Every Drop Counts

Water Water everywhere,
We cannot live without it anywhere.
It is a vital resource,
Which is of utmost use.
But we pollute it and make it dirty,
Without thinking about the situation that without it we will
become thirsty.
Keep it clean or you will be sick,
Leading to so many diseases that will happen very quick.
It comes from clouds in the sky,
Falls on land for water supply.
We can neither add it
Nor subtract it.
For it is a continuous cycle of water
Which cannot be stopped ever.
We use water for so many things,
So why don’t we realise that it’s our duty to conserve before it
leads to its strange occurring.
Programmes and Social awareness have been made among
people about water conservation,
Which has taught many people that our tomorrow is saved only
when we do water preservation.
People are actively taking part in water conservation
By practicing rain water harvesting, afforestation and adopting
sprinkler irrigation.

Wetlands- a Gift

The beautiful marshy lands,

With bugs, flowers and dunes of sand

I could hear the chirping birds around,
Between the bare ground.

The edges of the grass are sharp and bladed
Above the horizon is faded.

White clouds and Summer sky
Over marsh grasses butterflies fly

How beautiful are these Wetlands
With bugs, flowers and dunes of sand.

We enjoy their beauty,

Without thinking about their duty

The duty of controlling the natural disasters,

As if they are the masters.

But if they were not there,

Then what will happen everywhere.

Realizing the situation

Let's pledge for wetlands conservation.

How beautiful are these Wetlands,
With bugs, flowers and dunes of Sand.

A Strong Belief

A strong belief can change the world,
It's always within us but we are not concerned,
Always Belief in yourself

Environment-Our Mother

Environment is our mother,
Which provides us with shade in summer,
It takes care of us day and night,
But we don’t respect it despite.
We pollute it with harmful chemicals and plastics,
In spite of knowing that aquatic animals are killed by these micro plastics.
Why don’t we understand our duty towards it?
It gives us oxygen, shelter, food and many more things which make the lives of many fit.
Let us take an initiative to start an affair,
Taking some steps upstairs,
Making people more aware towards their environment,
For future’s betterment.
Many Programmes and Social awareness have been made among people about environment conservation,
Which have taught many people that our tomorrow is saved only when we do nature preservation.
By using 3Rs and taking steps to ensure preservation of nature,
We can become a nature nurturer.

Life of A Cell

I am a eukaryotic cell with various organelles,
I am present in various shapes of stellate, spherical and knob threads.
Nucleus is my brain,
Which has karyolymph and a nuclear membrane.
Closer to it, lies the ER which spreads like a huge network,
And carries out its repair work.
Beside ER lies the flattened sacs of Golgi Bodies,
Which performs the job of storing and packing proteins.
Lysosomes are fearless protectors,
Who act upon the worn out cell parts acting as dispensers.
I gain all my power from the ATP molecules released by mitochondria,
The power house of every cell body.
This is how I am able to perform all life processes,
For I have my special jewels, my cell organelles.

The Three Naturally Occuring States Of Matter

There is matter everywhere around us,
From tea to cups.
It is something which has volume and mass,
Present in three naturally occurring states of solid, liquid and gas.
Solids have a definite shape and volume,
With maximum density that is mass per unit volume.
They resist the flow,
From toe to hoe.
They do not get compressed,
thereby, there melting and boiling point are at the crest.
Liquids have fixed volumes but indefinite shape,
Whenever kept in any container acquire its shape.
They flow but do not get compressed,
With intermediate forces of attraction, density and kinetic energy, they are blessed.
Gases have neither fixed volume nor shape,
from anywhere they can escape.
They have minimum forces of attraction and density,
But they have maximum rate of fluidity and compressibility.
These are the state of matter,
Invented by our Mother Nature.

Save Environment: inspired by The Last Truck Ride by Ruskin Bond

Nathu a sturdy boy,
Comes to the valley to work instead of playing with a toy.
He says that for the daily essentials for his family he has to come down,
But still misses his hometown.
When he sees the uprooting of a tree,
He is in an awe that what will happen to the vegetation in his hills which are free.
When Pritam Singh was driving recklessly,
Nathu looks out of the window fearlessly.
He saw the sky above,
And the valley below.
He saw the deep valley below go by,
And watched the movement of the free sky.
During the accident he lies on the bed of thorns,
Pritam Singh goes to the hospital and meets Nathu who warns.
The true meaning of being a human is to plant on land,
And not to blast things out of the land.

Adventures Of Atek

Once in Sikkim a ranch owner,
Employed young Atek as a herder.
Who dedicatedly looked after the animals,
In a pure place where no one travels.
He loved to play his melodious flute,
Made of the Lepcha bamboo shoot.
He played aplenty tunes forlorn,
Every night and every morn.
A dusk he played the flute in drear,
Jyamphi Moong appeared from no where.
He saw a Yeti extremely scary,
Reverse footed and very hairy.
And then a song he did compute,
On his exotic bamboo flute.
Jyamphi Moong loved his music,
But poor Atek! He became too sick.
Then he avoided playing the flute,
So that the Yeti, he could refute.
But the Yeti would not restrain,
Insisted that he continued the refrain.
He felt like the Yeti's pawn,
Being forced to play on and on.
Later with a bonfire, Atek was ready,
Applying butter on his whole body.
Simultaneously, he played the flute,
For sure, he wanted Yeti to elute.
Yeti applied butter just like him,
Especially on each and every limb.
The buttered hairy body was afire,
The Yeti fled towards the hill still on fire.
Ever since Yeti lives in the Himalayan terrain,
This is where she likes to remain.
