A Second Chance

I started using drugs at an early age
Who would have thought it would set the stage
For a life of lies, violence, and crime
Only to show me it was a waste of time
Taking from me all I had 
While making my family feel so sad

Yes there are regrets and resentments since that day
Yes there are regrets and resentments since I lost my way

I used and used till I felt no more 
It stole my ambition and slammed the door
In my face and made me feel insane 
Keeping me from wanting to admit my name
Because drugs kill and destroy with each sack
Take take take and never giving back

Yes there are regrets and resentments since that day
Yes there are regrets and resentments since I lost my way

But today I live in a world of sober and clean
Living for God and completely serene
Today I want to live rather than just exist
Looking at my old life shaking my fist 
Knowing I’m still just one hit away 
But choosing a recovery life just for today

Yes there were regrets and resentments but I found the Way
