The Circle

Look inside me
judge my worth
weigh my heart
 Cast eyes upon my soul
see within this cycle
we exist the same
we have known and shared pain
This journey we have have walked
seeing yesterday
hoping for tomorrow
 Being reborn by new truths
shinning so that others may know
this journey never truly ends
 The circle
is to understand
so is this world
and yet we live in it
 Watching nature
share her secrets
seeing life come to completion
love but not in fullness
 It is something we see
but yet understand
only upon
do we wish to see without hate

All That I Am

Caught between who I am
and who you want me to be
keeping me without chains
tearing me up inside
keeping me from who I need to be
you had your taste of me
allow me to be
to live
allow me to awaken my insides
my feelings
everything I'm not makes who I am
No more mistakes
who I am
who I not
is everything within my life
becomes the lessons of the future

Fighting To Be Treated Fair

Fighting to be fair Being hit with whips Hung from a tree like fruit Being chased by people in sheets Being denied an education Drinking from separate water fountains Being forced to smile from the back of the bus Becoming a lab experiment for syphilis My blood spills Yet justice is overlooked Killing me without punishment Dying to vote Working for low wages Paying high interest rates Being denied credit Denied for loans My time here has been full of grief Yet nobody sees That hostory tells nothing of me

Ghetto Stories

Trapped within a mortal combat
My life is the prize
This game has swallowed my happiness and makes life a fight
Knowing none ever win
Death is all that's won
Another ghetto poem
Another ghetto story
Decisions and choices are within the battlefield
Gunshots describe my life
My stripes are my scars
My name have become numbers
Drowning my hope with dope
Washing the truth with lies
Misleading by misdirecting
Causing me to miss my blessings
The truth is worth confessing
I'm tired of the oppression
So tired of stressing
Faith is all that's left
But there is little to believe
Knowing no better
Faith is air
The preacher lines his pockets
Many go hungry
The pastor says have hope
But he doubts himself
This story is told by a million fold
Each day these stories are never old
Gathering thoughts
Others laugh
While watching my back
Hoping to see another calender flip
Pouring out liquor for the ones gone
My tears makes flowers grow
But it doesn't ease my soul

New Year

Time has come to an end our time has been counted by the days warm and tender times moments of joy moments of tears Watching time change Some rejoice others have taken their rest Season have come and gone yesterday is no more far away our thoughts of this time will be counting down till its end

Depression Or Recession

Drink liquor and smoking trees
escaping the reality of this bad economy
some now choose to steal
in efforts to pay their bills
Making decisions to pawn what they own
doing whatever possible to save their homes
getting by is hard
millions do it without jobs
Politicians promise it is getting better
but those are only words written in letters
come to place my place
and tell it to my children face
 Look into their eyes
see the life they are being deprived
watch a father cry
promising to provide, but words turn to be lies
 Who has job me
so I can provide for my family
so my wife won't see me cry
so my children won't hear me asking why

Decisions

Trying to walk away
after a lifetime together
seems so hard
 Emotions builds up
preventing you from go separate ways
despite the memories
saying goodbye would ease your soul
the living of lies would end

Righteous War

My vengeance is righteous

my war is just

truth is my sword

cutting through lies

Justice shield me

attacks made are to no effect

May God judge between you and I

see my deeds

I didn't start this fight

in order to save my life

I must end it

It isn't my intent

to bring one to their knees

nor to shed blood

may the record show

this engagement was forced upon me

to defend my life

sweat will fall

blood will pour

until I declared just

Olny a Man

Only a man would understand
these struggles and pain
and yet not cry
 Working a job you hate
trying to redirect all hate
knuckles sore and bruished
 Trying to handle responsibility
and being a lover
a father
 A work day doesn't end
each moment a constant fight
another struggle
but can't afford to shed a tear
 Nor reflect upon the hurt
shaking it off
people are depending upon you
setting personal feelings aside
 Being a superman who bleeds
cut and injured from life
battered and belittled
A paycheck doesn't equal to this pain
being forced to suck it up
and deal with it
holding back the tears

Bitter Soul

Life is too hard
dying is harder
the burdens of the heart
is too much to bear
love has one to dwell upon this
lost within emotion
the tides are beyond weathering
 Going forward is a must
but we look to the past
wondering if things could have been different
drinking allows a moment to forget
but the pain remains
