Leslie Hasty Poem
Poem to my dad:
You gave.
And provided.
There sure was love in the home.
Yes, and honesty.
Your values you taught me, will linger on.
Thank you.
52 years of knowing you.
Been an incredible journey.
I will miss your humor.
Along with your astute insight.
How will I go on?
Very carefully.
I'm grateful for you being my dad.
I surely mean that.
I will "keep my wits about me!"
Like you always told me.
No, this isn't the end.
Your soul has journeyed on, is all.
I love you!
Can't wait to join you in Heaven one day.

Leslie Hasty Poem
In a cemetery,
Grave markers everywhere.
A lot of strangers,
I do not know.
Who are these people?
What kind of life did they once live?
Were they happy,
Well liked and received?
Now all I see,
Are stones with obscure names on the top.
Mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters
Lay to rest at Greenwood.
But really?
Who were these beings?
Has their story,
Ever been told?
Civil war,
Up to the present.
These humans,
Once were ordinary creatures.
Like you and I.
They worked and had families.
What more can we say.
They too, had substance.

Leslie Hasty Poem
So sad,
To say goodbye.
You are gone.
And I must continue living.
I'm at a somber loss.
Because you have died.
To never, ever
Touch or hold you again.
I want to cry.
Cuz now,
All I have are memories.
Of what once was.
Sure, your spirit visits me.
But it's not the same.
I miss our conversations.
Staring and going deeply into your eyes.
You're not here.
Bittersweet as it may be.
I do accept,
Death happens to all of us.
