The Destruction of Covid-19

THE DESTRUCTION OF COVID-19

Some weird feeling rushing
through me like one I have never felt
before, a scary, suffocating one as I
walk out of my house door.

Something blinding, holding
me tight. I start to feel dizzy.
I’m thrown back into my consciousness,
with a pounding headache. I try to
focus my eyes on someone.

I am probably still dizzy, for I
see the same person over and over
again. There is something covering
peoples’ faces. My vision starts to get
blurred. I rub my eyes with my rough yet
soft fingers.
Masks. Not on one person, not on 2,
not on 3, on all of them.

I am pulled back into the house.
My mother wraps me on a white and
bluish fabric covering my mouth and over the
bony slope of my nose.

Is this necessary? I constantly ask myself;
a question I already know the answer to.
                                                             March 26, 2020

It’s been almost a year of lockdown now.
In California, Covid has hit pretty hard, and
I don’t think this virus is going away any time soon.
A note to self: Answer in future. Coronavirus defeat

I have to be honest. At first, it was kind of fun.
To be even more honest., I hated it! It was terrible!
The part I hated the most was staring at the screen
for at least 4 hours every day except on weekends,
for that was a choice.

Back in the day in the last pandemic, they had not
had any devices. That would have been a struggle.
Mom calls me. For dinner? Maybe., mm., aroma…
stuffy air, and vintage but cozy smell. That’s
just my room sniff, sniff. I smell falafels!
I dash down the stairs and into the kitchen.
                                                                 April 26, 2020

It’s just my sixth week with a bow and arrow, and it’s already
been seven bullseyes from a 20-yard distance.
Although, most of the time my mask
is covering so much of my face including my eyes,
so, it’s kind of hard to see where I am aiming.

As much as I love archery, you never know
where the next aim is; much like life itself; much like
the interference and destruction of Covid-19!
