Ambassador To Man

purple, black and darker
 than the night,
safe, within the walls
of introversion,
the soul of man sleeps
in fear of light,
as empty eyes keep vigil
 over life
idly reflecting back
celestial light
as if the soul, might still
inspired...
arise,
to interchange with man's
insipid mind.
but, long mired deep
 in langorous defeat
the old ambassador
who strove in vain
to teach
has ceased his thrashing
and remains asleep

On Peace

What reason for peace to be, so elusive
of discovery?
Amid the deafening cadence of change
tracks of timeless wanderings
lead unto remote beginnings
through the darker side of life.
Undaunted,
yet we travel, in lustful urgency
to find the place where Peace abides...
the place we thought to be.
Our failure to achieve
 that tranquil symmetry
crystalizes our sense of futility,
despair, and doubt.
Mirrored in hurt filled silences
our vengeful souls cry out.
Never heard above the din
of irony's laughter
Why must this mystical concept remain
so much sought after?

Maturity

I came naked, before you
an offering in hand
you gazed at the stars smiled
and in embarassed silence stood
seeing me as a child
idly bearing chidish gifts
You thought to play at pleasure
to humor and to please
unseen, through incurious eyes
a womans anger seethed
I came naked, before you
you stood, fully clothed
you, a careful thoughtful man
myself a reckless fool
I damned you, all through hell
because
you told a simple truth
as I in retrospect,
have found
a foolish, foolish, youth

I stand now as you stood then,
take comfort from my pride
and smile with patient tolerance
at your little boy side
