Stolen Fruit

Bitten apple.
Stolen fruit.
Who’s held it since that theft?
Why fallen Adam! And that has
Caused such
Dread trouble
And fuss

For Eve,
Who smells,
That plucked apple’s stink, and knows,
That she must battle and win,
Hard against
That first
Wrong sin.

Eve! Take
That fruit.
Press on through Eden’s guarded gates
To that Tree, past the cherubim.
On! On!
To save
All women.
