Si Iq Poem
They bring another bowl full of creamy stodge.
Your mouth is half open -
not shocked
but limp.
Falling to one side.
They heap the spoon and dump
it inside your mouth.
Even though the nurse has said to stop feeding,
that the stodge
is falling into your lungs
with your digestive system completely gone,
still, they heap another spoonful,
they think they know better.

During the long car
ride, Mum thinks we are asleep
and begins to cry.

Si Iq Poem
You’d think when you die
the line ends
that you can’t see no more
hear
feel
let alone walk;
you’d think death would be quite sure of itself
wouldn’t you?

Si Iq Poem
When I walk in
you are sat
with arms crossed
loosely
watching
two woodlice,
one trailing behind
too slow to keep up.
The light bulb,
too white
for a cosy
living room,
is naked
without
its lamp shade
and it reflects
in your eyes,
a tiny white dot
like a lone star
in the night sky.
Is it ridiculous
to say that
eyes are like mouths
because yours
are open right now.

whilst grandpa was being cleaned for the coffin.
