Chloe

She walks across the floor at night
Then glows in obvious delight
Her laughter is like a song she sings
Around the room, it's joyous ring
She stops to do a little dance.
Pleased with herself, now’s her chance.
A few steps more she takes with pride
And all the while she’s smiling wide.
She wrinkles up her perfect brow
And looks at you like “no, not now”
Then sets her mind on something new
And starts over again, out of the blue
But when she’s tired and had enough
She crawls upon her nanny’s lap
She grabs her paci and puts it in
And holds another in her hand
Slowly she drifts off to sleep
Peaceful as she dreams so sweet
When naptime’s over and she awakes
She’s back to walking all over the place.

Talking

You haunt me in my dreams at night,
You shadow me in the morning light.
How can I remove you from my mind?
How do I stop thinking of you all the time?

When I close my eyes, you are there.
I hear your voice whispering in my ear.
I catch myself smiling when I think of you.
Oh Lord, help me know what do to.

This isn’t something you have done.
Or maybe you somehow made things fun.
I must believe that you’re sincere,
When we talk, you call me dear.

There are many reasons that we can’t be.
I’m much older and that bothers me.
There are other things I really can’t say
I feel guilty for those each and every day.

Don'T Forget the Lipstick When I'M Gone

When I'm gone to my resting place
Please think of these, my final request.
Please put my makeup on my face.
Have my hair styled and in place.
Please put me on a frilly dress.
The costume jewelry is a must.
Make sure I have some fancy shoes,
Forget about the stupid rules.
Please make sure I have a purse,
God know I need one in the hearse.
Please put in it my favorite things,
Like pictures, compact, you know what I mean.
But most of all, please don't forget
Make sure I have lipstick upon my lips.
This may sound silly to some, I'm sure.
But to those, like me, well
I'm just a girl

Morning Light

Early in the morning light,
I catch a glimpse of you.
Looking from you little sight,
Your eyes are shining through.

I see that little curly head,
Peeking out the top.
Smiling at me sweetly,
I savor times like that.

What a way to start the day,
With curls and smiles from you.
It evens brightens cloudy days
With sparkling eyes so new.

Love Is

There you are little girl standing there,
So grown up and a mother yourself.
Holding your baby that looks like you,
Wondering what you are going to do?

Loving this child so much you cry.
Knowing she’s yours and you ask why.
Someone else can’t feel like you.
Now you know why they’re called the “blues”.

You look at her and see her smile,
You know God has blessed you with this child.
For love is such a precious thing
It makes your heart with laughter ring.

How Long

How long has it been
Since I’ve been in love
Or felt a warm embrace
Or a touch on my face
A look in my eyes
Or saddened goodbyes
How long has it been
Since I lay side by side
Felt the warmth of his hands
Felt the rushing romance
We lost our chance
To regain the romance
No crying tonight
No more goodbyes
How long has it been

Baby Like You

Leaving the room,
Turning around,
Seeing her face..
Like my child.
Filled with love,
See her smile,
Bright, shining eyes,
Light up the sky!
Oh yes, she’s like you,
Warm and sweet.
A very good baby,
Make life complete.
And when I hold her,
I hold her tight.
And kiss her cheeks
As I say “goodnight”.

God's Artwork

As I drive to work
This morning
I see the
Beautiful picture
God has painted.
Smudges of gold
Red, yellow
And orange
As the sun glows
From behind
I realize
How lucky
I am that I can
See this wondrous
Art each day
