Susan Lawrence Poem
Sunlight rains upon my face
Cascading memories cloaked in mystery
Kissing my eyelids
Ancient teardrops glide down my cheeks
Warmth illuminating my hungry soul
A sense of calm
A pulsating ellipse emerges before me
I dive into the magenta abyss
Releasing my wounded heart from its cage
Fear resides
Primal vibrations guide me
Becoming one with galaxies and starlight
My limbs relax
I flow ~ I undulate
I swim in the warmth of the universe
Time and space have become me and I them
Perched on a massive salt-stained boulder
Gazing towards the briny distance
Shades of White
A passionate brushstroke across the horizon
Sky and sea in a lover’s embrace
Caw .... caw ..... caw....
I feel you beckon me
Swallowing the sweet pit of truth
Nudged by a warm gust
I look down seeing the bundle
cradled in my arms
Your endless gaze speaks lifetimes of wisdom
Birth, struggle, bliss, challenge, and death
I watch you intently readying yourself
to pounce upon your unsuspecting prey
Riding this timeline of life
Together as one
Tick tock
Forward backward
Inward to the beating center of creation
Young one I see your sage reflection
In my gilded hand mirror
Me here and you there
Your smiling eyes
Tearing at my core
Come float with me
In sheer turquoise splendor
Adorned with seaweed crowns and abalone jewels
Rays of light penetrate the watery depths
Colonies of majestic stingrays hover nearby
Welcoming us to join their scared dance forevermore

Susan Lawrence Poem
Your time worn hand rests on my shoulder
A gentle firm touch
Ancient fingers stretching awake
And for that moment in time, I receive you
My body marinates in your history,
Delicacies, trauma, and wisdom
I sense you riding within my soul
Opening my heart to depths yet unknown
I journey with you, gazing into the welcoming deep wells
Of your onyx eyes, perceiving your scarred heart,
Moments of passionate elation, struggle, challenge
And renewed strength
Lavender sound waves embrace light beams
Trickling through a sleepy forest
Riding pine boughs, dancing over fallen trees
Alighting on limey velvet moss
I walk silently enmeshed in your presence,
Past eroded stones glistening on water’s edge
The river guides us onward lapping at our feet
Your cane finding purpose as your eyes begin to fail
Upwards towards trails of tears etched into the salty terrain
Your aged palms open to the sky
Each crevice a time capsule of what once was
Your footprints reveal your passage
Your ashes absorbed by the earth
Reveal new tendrils of growth
Shadows of eagles and falcons intertwine
Dancing on red rocks, leading me upward
Kee-eee-ar Kee-eee-ar
Gazing down at me the birds seek my movement
As they mingle with my revelations
Drawn by inspiration I climb through mist
Which clings to my eyelashes
Guiding me towards the top of the plateau
I see you seated there embraced by delicious pink smoke
Gazing out across the promising vastness
I hear silken melodies arriving from distant shores
Briny taste arriving in the air
A valley of vision shadows and light shafts
A shifting of purpose
Musical notes ascend
Sharps and flats, high notes, low bass
A vibration so powerful
Soft wind kisses my cheeks
Whispers float as they arrive by the thousands
Darkening the sky with hope’s desire
The ancient bird tribes with their passengers
Aloft on expanded featheriness
Humanity
The old, the sick, the broken, the ailing
The cherished, the newborn
The lovers, the forgotten ones
The seeds of civilization and confrontation
The ugliness and the bloodshed
They arrive
Silently hovering above the ground
A truce, a peace
A moment of unified breath is shared
A stillness fills the air
All eyes gaze outward acknowledging one another
Humankind’s glances imprint themselves onto each soul
The collective heart expands
Tears are shed
Wounds are healed
Acceptance is given
Tender touches are received
Apologies are offered
Laughs are shared
Light rises from below
A warm beckoning invitation
A congregation of energy
A pulsating beat that encapsulates us
Gazing towards the radiance
We witness fervent flames dancing enticingly
Revealing her silhouette
She who dances in fire
She who illuminates
She who cries and shares each of our breaths
She who rises to bring unity
Unshielded and engaged
We hold nothing back
Looking around it all becomes clear
Ladybugs and hummingbirds join
In circular flight riding the waves of our intention
Compassion prevails
Wings join
Voices blend
Moonlight caresses cheeks in a milky glow
Stardust coats us as
The circle of light is born

Susan Lawrence Poem
Mind Dance
I hear you calling me
I feel you on the wind
Playing with my hair
Grazing my cheek
With kiss’s shadow
Upon your distant shores
Perched on craggy rocks
Upon sunlit parched cliffs
I receive you
I feel the whispers
Of the past
I hear the moans
Of the lost ones
The forgotten ones
I am here
We are here
Know me
Know us....
For we have not departed
We reside in your heart
Gazing up I see the fuzzy silhouette
Of a man I once knew
Sitting in quiet contemplation
I recognize the tilt of the head
The steadfast gaze
The lonely heart calling out
Far below
Rugged shoreline
Sharp massive rock beacons
Cascading
Down ...down ...down
Disappearing
Becoming an erotic dance of mist and foam
Lovers entwined frolicking effortlessly
Their bodies of salt and sea intuiting one another
Mesmerizing me with their sacred union
High above royal seabirds
Appear from their cave dwellings
Diving down in unison
To join the lover’s dance
Their bodies
Shining...sleek...untouchable
Plunging full force into
Undulating clouds of churning sea
Seeking food
Creatures of land and sea...
Let me fly with you
My nose is filled with cold briny air
My eyelashes kissed with saline tears
Taking me back to that moment
Dry tall yellow grasses brush against you
Your belly hot... hungry
Making your way through pulsating relentless heat
Your dry breath
Your focus
Your precision
Your hunger
I smell the hunt
The fight
The kill
Watching you conquer your prey
Providing for your pride
With eyes closed
I see all of you
Oh gracious God of
Light and beauty
You come to me in my dreams
Allowing me to be
A humble witness to a
All you have created
I hear distant water gliding
Over weathered stones
Natures Music
I hear the cawing of the seabirds
Rising up
Growing fuller
One voice together
I feel the cheekbones of my ancient ancestor
Gently touching closed eyes
Feeling the wrinkles of skin
Her soul revealed
Each scar, wound,
Sunrise
Kiss and tear
Holding her hand is my gift.
We walk through transparent sheets of
Turquoise rain
Smelling the mossy green growth beneath our feet
High above where monkeys roam
We hear the welcome drops
Pelting the hand shaped leaves
Falling through the greenery
Finding their way to our smiles
A forever embrace
As we become one
My heart expands

Susan Lawrence Poem
Come to me my child
Rest your head in my lap
My hand strokes your wild curls
Feeling the dampness on your neck
Lamplight caresses your flushed cheeks
Shadows waltzing on the walls
You gaze at me with pools of wisdom
Infinite eyes that have lived lifetimes
Speaking silent words
You gift me with your knowledge
The fire in you burning bright
Bringing me back to my heartbeat
Which rises and falls in gratitude
With your presence
Come to me Mom
Rest your tired feet upon my lap
Let my eyes and heart envelop you
I will massage away weary time
Let me give you my touch
Gifting you energy as I receive yours
I look into your eyes surrounded with
Father Times’s crevices
Each line an active nuance
A roadmap of your journey here in space and time
A thumbprint of your joy and pain
Remembering sitting on the countertop
Cracking eggs in the bowl
Making cake together
Handing me the batter covered spoon so I could lick it
And me giving it back so you could lick it too
Come to me my love
I long to feel your touch
Cradle me in your arms so I can smell you
Touch my eyelids with your gentle breath
My fingertips awaken
I feel your forehead, your neck, your chest
My heart vibrates as I find your back
Covering it with sweet kisses
Come to me my friend
We have journeyed through darkness
We have waded through tar
We have risen from the depths of the darkest oceans
Sharing strength, inspiration, and resolution
Come to me shy one
Come to me stranger
Come to me wounded soul
Come to me frightened one
Come close dear animals
Fill me up with your breath and secrets
Let me dance with your essence
We are one intertwined soul united
I open my heart to you
Plants - germinate, flower and bloom
Release your seeds
To fly on the wind and the wings of falcons
Bringing new life to distant shores
Let us rise above the chatter
Rise up with me above the dense greyness
To sanctuaries in the sky
Arriving at cloud castles
Adorned with abundant neon moonbeam pillows
To jump on and roll in
Stardust silently falling
Like snowflakes kissing our noses
Velvet musical notes hover nearby
Our forms expand as we join as one
One light floating upward
A fuzzy pink radiant vibration
Our inhales and exhales merge
Wrapped in sacred unity we rise further
Heavenly fish swim by winking at us
Winged dolphins join in leaping over lavender cloudbanks
Starbursts and light bursts pulsate around us
As we dance together in laughter

Susan Lawrence Poem
Entering the doorway through my heart
Following the nuance of space
Allowing expansion ~ mystery ~ and curiosity
To guide me into realms of spiritual awakening
Journeying through moments in time
Filled with opportunities
To appreciate and cherish
To express gratitude
To be connected to the forces
Of nature and humanity
Together we take flight
Guided by white hawks
Silently lifting off
Into darkened skies
Kissed by gray hues
Alighting on silken clouds
Transporting us higher
A deep inhale as gentle breezes
Tickle my earlobes and caress my soul
My heart is open ~ expanding ~ gaining insight
Exposed
My tears flow freely
I allow the pain and suffering to become me
As I focus on illumination and helping others
With embracing arms and heart alive
Calling out to our elders and animal spirits
To join in our collective dance
The soft wind carries us
We float and fly and glide
Entering the realm of light
Sunbeams vibrating at the edges of perception
A fuzzy twinkling as our eyes excite
Riding magic cloud carpets
Above ocean’s breast
Gazing down
The beauty becomes us
Gold light rays skate on undulating waves
Illuminating tide’s glimmering foam
A waltz of light and sound
Briny majesty
Luminous shafts dance and sway
In a lovers embrace
Across veridian waves
Passionately singing out
Becoming one
Our voices ~ melodies
Songs of our ancestors
Ballads from distant shores
Past and present
Reveal themselves in
Tender haunting notes
Arriving on mist’s fingertips
Hoovering close to Mother Ocean’s surface
We hear her heartbeat
Lap lap lap ... bubbles ... breath
Surface foam breaking
She appears in nature’s coat of shiny black
A regal humpback
A tranquil Goddess welcoming us
We ride upon this graceful giant
As she whispers her secrets
Feeling her slow movement
Through watery depths
Turning gently ~ moving up and down
We welcome her strength as
Turquoise tides caress us
Guided by celestial navigation .... we ride
Gazing up at the sparkling stars
We listen to the collective heartbeat of eternity
One breath
One exhale
Together

Susan Lawrence Poem
We Are One
Dear Ancient Sister
I hear your distant calls finding me on a gentle breeze
You have lived in my dreams for many seasons
My voice
Your voice
My soul
Your soul
And our Coming of Age
I have always known you...
I have heard your
Quiet whispers echoing in
The night coming close to me
I call to you ...
Let me be a part of your breath
I have always known your wounds and sorrow
I see the light and magic in your eyes...
The pain you carry so eloquently
I see your reflection in the clouds above
Carrying your soul wound on your sleeve
I see the deep crevasses and lines
In your grandmother’s hands
I hear the secrets beneath the earth of
Your grandfather’s footsteps
I see your reflection in the twilight
Of the evening... against pink watermelon hills
Your voice beckoning me onward closer to you
I see you in the moon and stars
Your buckskin dress adorned with
Ceremonial beads
Abalone shell against your forehead
The dirt beneath your moccasins
Grateful for the kiss of your dancing feet
I hear the echo in the distance of songs
The Elders sang...
During their passage here
You are born into a woman
Before my eyes and heart
Before your tribe
Before nature
A wise new feline
A mystical power with endless allure
A force that lifts and unites us all
As one
Your rays blessing us and leaving
A welcome imprint on our hearts
My Ancient sister
I drink in your wisdom and grace
I fly on your wings
You have shown me your world
Watching you dance
Becoming you for moments in time
Your silhouette etched by
The wild flames behind you
A glow radiating into
The night sky
The stories of your Ancestors
Filling the air with
Words and lessons and song
Notes sung into clenched fists
With bloodstained hands
The children and animals
Sensing all that was
And all that will ever be...
The call of a distant bird
The thumping of your cane on
The hungry earth
Keeping time with
The movements of your body
You will look back on this
Day as you walk with the
Same cane down the path of
Old Age...
Your wisdom
Cupping your heart gently
Ancient Sister of mine
I am in gratitude for
Your strength and courage
The kiss of your words and
The teardrops of your loss

Susan Lawrence Poem
Dancing in space
Waltzing in the universe
Pirouetting on cloud banks
Aah yes
Come with me
Let’s dance together
Ancient flute notes echo
Amidst starshine and lost memories
I feel you there beside me
Peeking around planets
Your eyes seeking me out
Our fibers entwined
Through passion and loss
Our unspoken words
Spun like gold thread
Around our bleeding hearts
An inhale ~ a memory
Meeting you in the ocean
Immersing ourselves in blankets of mist and fog
Lavender foam adorned with turquoise sparkles
Glinting off wave tips
My nakedness enveloped
Salty tears
My mouth open
Searching for you
I walk through time
Through walls of water
The waves part
As I find my way
Inward
Onward
To the sacred place within
I feel the air ~ quiet now
My fingertips sense my surroundings
I smell your heartbeat
In darkness my palms touch yours
A vibration of heat
Of laughter
Of knowing
Of ancient memories
Coupling our souls
Forever

Susan Lawrence Poem
Remembering when
Perched high above on rocky crags
Cliffs weathered by times handprints
I saw far and wide to distant shores
Tendrils of desire radiating outwards
Riding the briny mist
Being carried by the breath of the ocean, my constant companion
Hearing the distant voices, the silent tears
The bursts of passion ~ love and loss
I ride the wings of hope and change
Towards the beckoning landscape of
Creation, mystery, and nuance
A vibration fills the air
The quiet chanting of our ancient brothers and sisters
Their words floating in effervescent bubbles
Tinged with melodies so clear
We are one ~ We are here
Let us bathe you in light
Let us heal your wounds
Let us give you hope
We are all mirrors of one another
We share one breath
We are connected like the mycelium under the ground
Our journey is peaceful
Come to us with your pain, your heartache,
Your fear and your loss
We are here to listen
Our ears and hearts are open
You have come to a safe sanctuary to reveal your secrets
Your darkness, your desires, and your bliss
Without judgement
This is a time of renewal
Tiny green hummingbird lays lifeless on the ground
Surrounded by new life
Glittering musical notes sound as
Pink butterflies gather
Gentle wind of wings bringing change
Warm rain falls as we make our way
Through the kaleidoscopes of turquoise, teal, lime and chartreuse
Sunlight reflections
Moss, furry seedlings, and ferns
Intertwine dancing in the shafts of light
A steady illuminated procession
Sweat running down our bodies
We are a train of humanity pushing forward
Through the dense moist jungle
Coming upon a clearing to witness
The newborn baby girl wrapped in velvet greenery
A majestic glowing beacon shining her light
On all of us
Howling
The chatter of monkeys as they scramble down limbs to join us
We feel her heartbeat
We meld into one another seamlessly
Swaying gently in unison
To honor, rejoice and celebrate
Receiving the gift of what it is to be human
Slowly the child is lifted into the air
Aloft on fingertips of joy
The Circle of Life begins
And we return to the simple act
Of loving and giving to one another
Into eternity

Susan Lawrence Poem
I am here now
Presence my companion
Rising I put my two feet
On the ground
I give thanks as I open my eyes
To this new day
A divine delicious smile
Trickles upward animating my mouth
How glorious to be here
At this moment in time
Sacred simplicity guiding me
A gift to inhabit this body
Having the depth of consciousness
To appreciate tiny nuances
Wonderous offerings
Arriving on sunlight’s crown
The gift of vison, heart, and soul
Awaken effervescent bubbles
Gratitude’s golden silk
Tickling my tender skin
Footprints of change
Always in motion
Mapped out before me
A constant ripple in a
Reflective glistening pool
Closing my eyes
I see you by the campfire
Gold crusted amber glow
Sculpting your face
Lips parted slightly
Dancing shadows on your forehead
I long for you
A deep belly laugh
Tears brim my eyes
Remembering that magical moment
Illuminating our shared joy
The rising sparks from the fire
Unleash memories deep
Within my molten core
A baby crying in the distance
The vibrations encompassing me
The slow steady drumbeats of our ancestors
An opportunity to dig down
To release old wounds
Only I have the key
Fly away ... I have no need for you
Gliding on newborn mist
Born in ocean’s womb
Rising to great heights
Arriving in the world of tomorrow
I kiss the salt-stained cheeks
Of the wounded
Lending a helping hand
To the downtrodden
Walking through the valley before me
I marvel at the weathered cliffs
Crags and crevices plunging
Down.....down
Spooning riverbanks
A gentle sway
Waters lapping luxuriously
Without a care or want
A twinkle awakens
Teardrop tapestries weaving light
On water’s surface
Mystical movement
Its sheen seeding love and purpose
Deep into my heart
A beckoning call from cliff’s crest
A cradling chant infuses itself
Into my being
Kai kai kai ooo har Kai kai kai
Passion riding on desire’s whisper
Cloaked in lavender silk
Sounds so full and rich
I cannot resist receiving them
I feel the heat rise up
I see gathered before me
Life ~ Love ~ Loss ~ and Rebirth
A joyous silken rain woven by
Goddess spiders
Threads of compassion
Pulsating in iridescent
Lime, turquoise, and peach
We all pause
The multitudes of mankind
The creatures of light and sound
The furry beasts
The winged ones
Gazing up we raise our arms
Towards pale violet clouds
Winks, half smiles and collective breath are shared
Bursting into song
We open our hearts in unison and
Capture the quenching raindrops
In our mouths
A gift from above connecting us all
In a shared embrace.

Susan Lawrence Poem
Dream
My mirrored reflection silently speaks
You honor me with your vulnerability
Your scars of life
Your unhealed wounds of betrayal
Dream journals tattoo your body
Your open arms of desire call to me
With eyes closed I sense
Whispers of your silky wings
Fluttering against smeared panes of glass
Separating us in the night
Your voiceless screams
Crushed pink musical notes hover close by
Magical music envelopes me
Dancing sounds emanating from
The depths of your kaleidoscope soul
A rebirth of desire
You are my child
My eyes call to you
Fragile strands of distance
Separate us
My child
I long to touch you
To hug you
To comfort you
Our palms meet
Mirroring one another
Rising them above our heads
We create a circle of life together
Only the transparent looking glass
Keeps me from feeling
The warmth of your touch
I read stories to you
You cannot hear me
I turn the book around
Pressing it to the glass
Not knowing if you
Can interpret the words
Hello my dear child
I am here to make you smile
I will dance for you
I will pantomime
I will become a dynamic octopus
Changing color and form
Before your eyes
I reach through the glass
As it liquifies and melts
Coating my fingertips
Hands and arms
In a warm embrace
I find you in the blur
Lifetimes pass
Time Inhales
Grasping blindly
I cup your shoulders
Bringing you to me
Dissolving all barriers
I press you against
My beating heart
Sweat glides down my cheekbone
Caressing your forehead
Leaving salty trails
Child of mine
No greater honor
Has been bestowed on me
Allow me to help you heal
As you have healed me
Cherished
Line drawings
Smiling suns
Red Dogs
Green Trains
Spider webs of glitter
Paper mache bowls
Painted in Aztec colors
Fill my dresser drawer
Remembering sugar cookie stars
Coated in Thick frosting
Sprinkles
Burnt edges
Many skinned knees
Broken spirits
Bactine and Bandaids
Notes by my bed
“I love you Mama”
These moments in time
Stored in the locket of
My heart
Forever
I kiss you now
