Salad City

Salad City

By Francis Powell

Nobody can breath in Salad City
There’s snakes in the sea, in salad city
They are just living out a dream in Salad City
Or just throwing their lives away
I went there when I was twenty one
Just wanted to live a bit, and have some fun
I was caught in the crossfire of a city at war
There was harmony and hell in the midst of it all

You can’t sail in the breeze in Salad city
There are toxic trees in salad city
The children are searching for fields to play
and the mayor is attached to the end of a chain
There are people sitting on cactus pins,
trying to atone for their faults and sins
All the shop keepers love to scowl and frown
And the taxi drivers, drive with their eyes to the ground
