I Heard the Wind Again Today

I heard the wind again today
it's sound so sad and low
it seemed to ask a question of me
"What had I come to know?"

I searched my heart for an answer to find
an answer for the wind and I
and what I found was the sound of the wind
to which I had no reply

What do you know after all this time
what have you come to see
what have you learned of the ways of your heart
what have you learned of me

I know of love came my reply
I know of the the pain when it then dies
I know of the feel of a loving touch
and the look of loving eyes

What I haven't yet found is that part of me
that part which drives love away
the love which I do so desperately need
to come to me and stay

Then once more I heard the wind in the night
it's lonesome and mournful sound
as it jostled the leaves away from the trees
then swept them along the ground

Look you well there so deep inside
the answer you seek is clear
that love which you so desperately seek
is also what you fear

The Traveler

O traveler what miles you've crossed
what memories you've gleaned
what nightmares lost O ragged one
what moments in between
O traveler what compels thee on
what keeps thy footsteps light
what long held quest O vagabond
which haunts thee thru the night
O traveler I wish for thee
thy prize to one day see
that you might rest O weary one
that you might be set free

When I Look At You

When I look at you
do I feel your pain
do I know your fears
do I understand

Can I know of the heartache
you live with each day
or of the many sorrows
you collect along the way

Do I see all of the hatred
the world to you has shown
and know of your suffering
as if it were my own

When I look at you
what do I really see
do I see the love
that you have for me

Can I feel your joy
your hopes and dreams
can I share in your happiness
and know what it means

When I look at you
I hope and I pray
that you will see me
in this special way

The Dark Wood

In that wood so dark and deep
where ne'er but silent shadows sleep
there spectral images e'er do creep
in that darkened wood so deep
In that wood of shadows long
where ghouls and ogres there do throng
there where spells are cast in song
there in that wood of shadows long
In that wood so still and dark
where wolves do howl and coyotes bark
there where bleeds the elder bark
there in that wood so still and dark
Into that wood go not at all
where spooks and banshees scream and call
there where many are said to fall
do not go to that wood at all

Missing You

Missing You

So many the days
so long now the time
so distant the memories
of your hand in mine

So long ago the nights
near forgotten the dreams
a lifetime gone by
now it all seems

So sorrowed my heart
now alone in this place
lost in the longing
for your sweet embrace

longing to see
that smile on your face

Outside the Line

There is a line which none can see
a line which bends eternally
a line which circles my friends and me
and those who are endeared to me

But what of those outside that line
what of their grieved and worried minds
their daily lives bereft of hope
each day a struggle just to cope

Inside the line we know not their fear
their cries and moans we do not hear
the darkness that engulfs their lives
a wall before our caring eyes

All those within my circle are fine
but what of those outside the line

Enchanted Kiss

As the sun finally, silently
slips from view
I sit and I watch
and I think of you
while low clouds gather
laden with rain
I watch and I wait
with thoughts of you again

then droplets gently fall at last
and with them
the evenings spell is cast
then slowly drift I
unto that realm
that magical world
where dreams are held

Then there you are
 in that far away land
walking toward me
with your outstretched hand
and welcome me to this land of bliss
with a soft and warm
enchanted kiss

A Stream Where I Used To Play

I walked along a stream one day
where as a child I did play
As I walked it seemed the stream did say
where have you been my dear old friend
I have been living in the world of men
where there is little time for streams
and so too little time for dreams
The stream replied this world I know
tis the place where all the children go
They go off to that world of men
seldom to return again
I came back
was my reply
though many a season has passed us by
And so you have
said the stream
though this be
simply a dream

Different

Voices gather round me
rumbling as to storm
threatening dark and ominous
lacking shape and form

You're so very different
you're so very strange
why can't you be like one of us
why can't you be the same

Then from deep inside me
another voice I heard
I cannot be the same as you
my voice aloud concurred

I don't believe as you do
that the world should look the same
nor share the same opinion
nor have a likened name

For like an artist's palette
who's colors do adorn
the world and all it's people
each one uniquely born

A beautiful mosaic
all bright and full and lush
a world of living colors
that's what I see in us

Lonely Wind

How lonely art thou 'O winter wind
thou solitary traveler
bringing naught but ice and snow with thee

'O harbinger of desolation
thy gray skies casting their shroud
chastising the sun
that it might never again
let its warmth fall upon the earth
leaving only a bleak
and barren landscape in thy wake.

Travel on thou agent of despair
that once more might the land be reborn
and that the streams might again flow
freed from thy bitter grasp

That the sun might be allowed to shine anew
calling forth the trees and flowers
to blossom and bloom
transforming that which was dead and frozen
into a world teeming with new life
a world made all the more beautiful by thy handiwork

My thanks to you 'O winter wind
and may you travel this way again
