Alexandrine

Alex went for a drink
to calm himself and think
I screamed: 'Alex and drink!'
I hate Alexandrine!

Indelible Parting

Should I wear myself off in tears?
Should I get myself lost with beer?
Should I dare consult the seers
for the loss of a comely dear?

Can I live onwards with this fear
that your voice I may no longer hear?
Will our friendship be just mere
now that you're no longer near?

My tears flow because it cannot stand
when death gives a blow with its icy hand.
Moments with you is now a deserted land,
much more like a desert without sand.

It’s not possible to buy life with money.
It’s incredible you left earlier for this lonely journey.
It’s a blow and a surprise to me and the many
that death does not respect even the canny.

How I wish you had stayed with me longer
at least for a little while;
then we can share more moments together
as I enjoy more of your smile.

My lovely dearie, rest in peace.
Rest in peace in the bosom of Father Abraham.
My prayer is that you be kept in a place;
a place safe and devoid of every harm.

Do Your Part

No matter how diligently you've mastered Kung Fu
You can never stand the force of a great typhoon.
If you try, you're only calling yourself a nincompoop
For it will sweep you away as the wind does balloon.
Among the homos, none can, not even the baboon.
You can only do it when you're in fantasy like cartoon.
So just play your role, like the sun and the moon
Because you can't solve it all; morning or afternoon.

When I Say I Love You

When I say I love you,
dear I mean it.
Gone are the days I used to
play with it.

You alone I long to solely have.
I don't care if that they call greed.
Without you I am just a half
in processing, yet to complete.

Could I have ever imagined a love so sweet?
Should I myself awaken from this love sleep?

A love in both deeds and words,
I'll never dare to loose.
A love that always gives the best,
all will hasten to choose.

The paddle to the canoe, sure you got it
so when I say I love you, dear I mean it.

Ghost Love

I sought to worship and love you the more
Amidst the gloom never a dull moment
I sacrificed my time, wealth, life, and my all
Wholeheartedly to make our love decent

You could just reflect back my love I wish
Then it will have flesh enough to be seen
You could dwell in the ocean like the fish
And swim in my love as had always been

But my yearn for a beloved other
You have proven there was no true essence
Now I conclude: Love should never matter
For matter got no lasting existence

Futile efforts raising love high above
Just to realise it was a ghost love.

Lone Now

If you know, you know
Olives to Sell in a Miss
seems stress to myself.

I Learnt To Control My Emotions

I used to get moved by your every word
I thought you meant everything you said
The disappointments were evident
For on you I was so dependent
Then I learned to control my emotions

I was so overwhelmed with you
I took everything you did at heart
Folks out there even said I'm a fool
To allow you to tear me apart
Then I learned to control my emotions

The love I had for you was pure
I sincerely gave you my all
You knew this for sure
But you played me like ball
Then I learned to control my emotions

I always felt I was insecure
I envisaged this whole thing will end
But I just wanted to endure
And see if the problem we could mend
Then I learned to control my emotions

I now know I am the problem
Thank you for teaching me
On you I always put the blame
Painting a picture for you to be
Then I learned to control my emotions

I'm now going to work on myself
And stop trying my best to fix you
Change can be initiated by one's self
Certainly you will when your time is due
At last! I learnt to control my emotions.

Night of Rain

'Tick', 'tock', 'tick', 'tock', the ticky-tocky click of the clock continued to beep
'Ree-raw', 'ree-raw', the roaring of the frogs was heard over and over in the deep
I stood awake to solve a riddle, a jigsaw puzzle, denying my eyes of sleep
Caged in a cottage of low rentage my wage could pay, hoping I did keep

'Ko', 'ko', 'ko', 'ko', was the jangly sound from the corner where the roof did leak
Hitting hard my tympanum as the woodpecker does the tree with its beak
"Oh no!, I'll have to go" were the very words my sullen mouth could speak
Indeed!, first thing before noon, it was the Thatcher that I'll have to go seek.

Before We Embrace the Night

I will come for you, I will walk you home
When evening light bathes the tree trunks in gold
I will be with you, you'll not be alone
And your sweet soft palms in mine I will hold

Together, our arms entwined, will we stride
The busy streets of Unity Gardens
Just as on the aisle with you as my bride
And casting away all our life burdens

As a worshipper adores a wild god
So shall I, your countenance my delight
And till pale stars shine, love's ship let's aboard
Then glowing, you'll mirror the gloamings light

Before we embrace the night sweet honey,
On love's wings we'll fly a heaven's journey

Silent In the Moonlight

We sat sunk, silent, staring the moonlight.
The new year's weather; whether cool or cold
Muddled in the day by survival fight,
We couldn't decipher and say it bold.
Ourselves we found in one another's shoes
Tied by the day's sorrows in a state — trance
Pleading with death for an eternal truce
We hoped that tomorrow brings a new chance.
Next another, silent, thinking besides:
Will this novel year bring bile or candy?
Years afore, drown in misery Nile's size
We hoped the new season be just lovely.
Wordless though, yet we heard what was not said
Because our silence spoke a million words.
