Silent In the Moonlight

We sat sunk, silent, staring the moonlight. The new year's weather; whether cool or cold Muddled in the day by survival fight, We couldn't decipher and say it bold. Ourselves we found in one another's shoes Tied by the day's sorrows in a state — trance Pleading with death for an eternal truce We hoped that tomorrow brings a new chance. Next another, silent, thinking besides: Will this novel year bring bile or candy? Years afore, drown in misery Nile's size We hoped the new season be just lovely. Wordless though, yet we heard what was not said Because our silence spoke a million words.
