God's grace

The earth proclaims His majesty
From mountain peaks to deepest sea.
God sends us rain, the flowers grow
And His abundant mercies show.

Our very breath He doth sustain
He sends the sun to warm the grain.
From God above all blessings flow
And His abundant mercies show.

He sent His Son to pay for sin
All penitential souls to win,
To cleanse our hearts as white as snow
And His abundant mercies show.

In heaven He awaits your voice
For faith will make His heart rejoice.
On you He would His grace bestow
And His abundant mercies show.

About face

I may not fit perfection's flawless mould
But don't discard me with a fleeting glance,
Look past the superficial, take a chance
Remember all that glitters is not gold.
Then as the layers steadily unfold
You may not look at me quite so askance
If you unpack the wrapping in advance
And banish preconception's stranglehold.

Your narrow-mindedness has left you blind
An outer self is all that you can see
Delve deeper, shed the mindset of the past
Give me a chance to blossom and unwind
Begin to probe the essence that is me
Then see me in a clearer light at last.

Same old tune - Lei

A gallant knight was much admired
by one and all, but he aspired
to claim the hand of Guinevere
whose charm and beauty had no peer.
At night he'd bring his harp along
and serenade her with a song.
Alas, she'd heard it all before -
Another knight was shown the door!

when and then conundrum

This homonym gives an awareness of time
Or yields a sweet treat from the back of the hand.
When romance is needed this meeting is planned;
Then what is the theme of this riddlesome rhyme?

melodic sustenance

‘If music be the food of love play on.’
Let mellow harps arouse the appetite
And ‘lark ascending’ serenade the night.

If melody enhances sweet romance
Then may the air be filled with joyful song
And flute with graceful timbre play along.

If music serve to kindle glowing hearts,
May instruments in harmony resound
That love in perfect unison be found.

The final acorn

I am the closing chapter in our genealogy,
The last remaining acorn from a giant mother tree
An unproductive member of a fertile family,
And only male descendant in its total history.
But sad, to say nobody ever chose to marry me
And so the name will disappear without posterity.
