Being In the Now

Being in the NOW

This is a simple secret of happiness. It is so simple, that one may wonder, “How something like ‘Being in the NOW’ can guarantee eternal happiness?” But it can. It is a sure way of living with peace and joy.

It’s a big challenge

While it seems so simple, being in the NOW is a big challenge. We are slaves of our mind and we rarely achieve this state of being in the NOW. The fault is not ours. The fault is that of our mind. Before we know it, it slips into a thought of the past. Gone, our NOW is kidnapped! By the time we catch the kidnapper, the mind, and bring it to the table, it gently jumps into the future. It hijacks our life to a new destination. Yes, it holds us to ransom, and the biggest problem – we don’t even know it. It is a big challenge to be in the NOW. But if we can, we can be assured of peace and happiness.

The NOW is peaceful and blissful

Just for now, focus on this moment. Breathe some fresh air, as you count your blessings. Just look through your beautiful eyes and enjoy the nature you see. Stop and hear some amazing music. Don’t think. Stop your mind from drifting away. Just be in the NOW and do what you love to do. Maybe it is making love, but don’t let your mind think of how your heart broke when you made love last year.

Being in the NOW

Just enjoy the present moment. If you prefer, just sink your teeth into your favourite fruit and enjoy the moment. For you, it may be just playing the piano. Whatever makes your moment blissful, just for now, do that. You will find so much joy and peace.

Why lose this moment?

When the NOW can be so beautiful, why lose it? It is sad that we don’t even realize that we are losing moments, moment by moment. The NOW is ours, but somebody robs it and the NOW is gone. We let our NOW get destroyed. Not just that, instead of being happy and peaceful in the NOW, we permit our NOW to be filled with misery and sorrow. What a shame! We must resolve not to lose this moment. This moment belongs to us, it is ours. It is our biggest treasure. It is this moment and the next and the next that actually constructs our life. Moments create days, days create weeks, weeks create months, months create years and all of these create our life. If we lose the moment, we lose life, a life that was meant to be peaceful and joyous.

What Is Consciousness - Air Institute of Realization

Am I consciousness?

If I am not the body, and I am not the mind, then what am I? Both science and spirituality have concluded that I am energy. But for me to believe that I am energy – it is not easy. How do I comprehend energy?

For me to define electricity is so difficult without the help of a gadget or instrument like a bulb. With the help of a bulb, I can easily understand what electricity is, as it flows through a filament to give light. While we understand energy that comes from electricity, it is strange that we don’t understand the energy that comes into a human body at birth and departs at death. While we are well aware of it, we have not invested time in spiritual experiments as we have on scientific ones. To explore energy in a human body, let us dwell a little on our consciousness. The energy in us is alive, but we go through phases of being conscious and unconscious.

When we are conscious, our physical body is active, just as our subtle body or mind is also active. The energy in us makes us walk, talk and move. When the body goes to sleep, we lose consciousness, but our mind is still energized. Therefore, the mind subconsciously continues its existence in dreams.

When we talk of consciousness, we seem to understand it so easily. But somehow we don’t understand it in the real sense. If you are conscious, you can listen to me, just as I can talk to you if I am conscious. We also understand that the body doesn’t forget to breathe when we sleep as our subconscious never stops. Man has not thought further. If we go a little deeper, we realize that we are the consciousness that departs at death. We are no more. Unlike at sleep, where we experience a different state of consciousness, when “I” die, the “me”– that is not the body and mind, but pure energy – leaves the body permanently. I can never regain consciousness because I am no more alive in the body.

Unravel the True Meaning of Yoga - One With the Divine - Air

What is the true meaning of Yoga?

The understanding of Yoga as a physical and mental practice is widely observed by people all over the world. There are training schemes and centers for the ones who think Yoga is a solution to keep themselves healthy and fit. The asanas, the yogic positions, and formations to train the physique exist. Although, it is only but a branch of the actual lifestyle of a Yogi. Being ignorant about life’s deeper meaning and is the root of such misconception.

If only we chose to ask the right questions to find the true meaning of life, we could truly understand Yoga. Any human being can be in Yoga. All they have to do is to disconnect from the world, bhoga, and connect with the Divine Energy. Through Bhakti Yoga, Karma Yoga, Gyaana Yoga, and Dhyaana Yoga, one can realize the Truth. We are not this body that we seem to be in. We are not the mind and ego. We are the Divine Soul in reality. The World is a cosmic illusion. The union with the Divine is priceless. And Yoga, is the only path, the path to life’s ultimate goal, liberation. It is a permanent state of bliss and peace. Through meditation, taking control of the mind, body, and ego is critical in achieving everlasting bliss.

In order to douse the flames of passion, one must practice the discipline of body and mind. The sages called this Sama, Dama, Uparati, Titiksha, Shraddha, and Samadhana. We, humans, are said to be like a chariot with 5 horses. The 5 horses are the 5 senses that we are blessed with. We the Divine Soul, are the charioteer. To Discipline our life, we must take charge of the 5 senses by controlling the mind. Such discipline of the mind and body is called Sadhana. Once we gain such forbearance, faith, and fortitude, we must then develop the Desire for the Divine and Liberation. This is what the sages called Mumukshutva. If we are fortunate to become Mumukshus, then our desire for the Divine and Liberation, the realization will set us free in the path of True Yoga.

“I too thought Yoga was exercise,
Stretching my arms and thighs.
Till I realized, it was Union with God,
That Liberates us and unites us with the Lord.”
                                                                            -AiR

Who Are We - the Body, Mind, Ego Or the Soul - Air

The Quest to discover our ‘Self’

How can we discover who we truly are? The only way to discover the truth is to go on a quest. We must search for the answers of all the possible questions which relate to our life and our existence.

Unfortunately, we are too busy in this world of pleasures and possessions that we don’t consider it important to discover the truth about ourselves. Thus man lives and dies in ignorance and suffers pain of ego, mind and body.

Man is worried about the stars in the sky, the planets, the galaxies and the wonders that appear to be in outer space. Man is exploring the depths of the ocean trying to discover what lies there. In fact, man is so busy discovering the world that he has forgotten to discover himself. Man has no time to go on a quest to understand that he is not the body. While he sees the body die and he knows that it is not the person who was alive, he doesn’t ponder on the question – Who am I?

Man gives so much importance to the mind that he believes his mind to be him. Although he lives in worry and fear, he does not go in search of the truth to realize that he is not the mind.

It is absolutely clear that we are not the body, nor are we the mind. We seem to be energy that is captured by the ego and thus we live in ignorance.

Man is too busy to discover that what he lives in, is actually a Cosmic Illusion. The Cosmic Illusion has trapped man in its twofold powers that keep him ignorant. The first power is the power that projects a Cosmic Illusion. The second power conceals the truth. Because man has not discovered the Cosmic Illusion, he continues to live and die in ignorance.

Living With the 4th Factor - Air Institute of Realization

Living with the 4th Factor

Suppose you are told that your life can be transformed and that you can live without fear, worry, anxiety, doubt, hate, jealousy and anger. Suppose you could fill your life with joy, peace, hope, faith and bliss, would you not be excited to transform your life? Well, here is an opportunity – you can choose a new way to live.

Why do we live with fear? What is fear? Fear is FEAR – False Expectations Appearing Real. Our life is filled with fear, fear of the unknown, fear of failure and fear of every possible danger. There is no real danger, but we cook up expected dangers and we live with fear. This is because we do not have faith in the 4th Factor. Had we believed that there was an intelligent 4th Factor that was controlling results and had complete command of the future, we would live without fear. If we trusted the Cosmic Power and realized that it was just a cosmic drama, there would be no reason to fear. However, instead of trusting the 4th Factor, we let our mind enslave us with negative thoughts that create fear. If we flip over and let the 4th Factor take charge of our life, transcending negative thoughts of our mind, fear will be a thing of the past.

We worry so much. But why do we worry? We worry because either we anticipate negative consequences, or we don’t trust the Cosmic Power enough. In fact, worry has become a habit for many people. It’s time to replace the habit of worry with a belief in the Power of the 4th Factor. We have seen its influence on results and if we have put in our best efforts, there is no need to worry. If by chance we have slipped somewhere, then the result may not be as per what we wished. However, we must have full trust in the 4th Factor. We must understand that nothing really matters. Nothing is real in this cosmic drama. The scenes keep changing and we must enjoy the show. If we believe in the 4th Factor, there is no need to worry.
