Shaneika Washington Poem
I am going on a journey in my mind, and I didn’t save a seat for negativity
I choose to take along a dear friend I like to hang out with called positivity
I will pack my bags full of self-worth and plenty of pride
I will make sure to leave all the hatred, jealousy, and bitterness behind
My trip will speed down the highway or sail away on thoughts I choose to think
I won’t mistake any green eyes for lights or let any loose lips make my ship sink
The place I go won’t let any passports stamped “FAKE” board my cranial plane
On my journey there is no room for hurt, guilt, suffering or pain
I am going on a journey in my mind where my innocence will not accept defeat
Instead I will gather up my humility and step into first class and take my seat
I enjoy the scenic view on my highway past and every turn at decision
I often stop at a rest area on highway 101 and check my action’s precision
On this journey in my mind; me, myself and I have a blast every time
This is the only journey I can take where every fun feeling isn’t shared its mine
I take this journey daily and people ask how I have time and afford what I do
I reply, what I can’t afford and what this world wants, is for me not to.
