Joan Jezek Poem
/I'm getting rather old these days
And some may say, set in my ways
Because I've seen so many Springs
Within my brain live many things
December 7 - Pearl Harbor Day
The start of life a whole new way
Four long years, each day aware
Our brave force was "over there"
They fought so hard and won the day
We cheered and cried VE and VJ
Not all returned, make no mistake
They gave their lives for freedom's sake
If life goes on with carefree days
So many paid in many ways
Stop - say thank you, we do care
We think of you and say a prayer
And now we face more long hard days
As we fight to save our ways
Not just for us, but others too
The world lives on Because of You
A thankful American/

Joan Jezek Poem
/Speak to me, oh Summer
Tell me where you go
You keep it very secret
I really want to know
It seems you're just beginning
With all the charm of May
I dream of days of summer
Long days of endless play
The trees begin to blossom
Flowers sent the air
The promise of the summer
Nothing can compare
You come, you warm, you gladden
Oh, how I wish you'd stay
But, Summer, you are fickle
You know you'll go away
Ah, I suddenly remember
And I need not fear
Just when I need you most
You'll come again next year/

Joan Jezek Poem
/The clouds hung low in the sky that day
They hung above, a sullen gray
Perhaps they'll leave as they sometimes do
And open the sky to a wondrous blue
So like the heart when filled with doubt
Like heavy clouds with no way out
And then, how strange, they blow away
And open your world to a wondrous day/
