Jelly Belly

POEM "JELLY BELLY" by martin gedge

A jar full of jelly and a bag full of beans

in multiples of colors in a rainbow of dreams

a taste that you savor in the juicy of a jam

bursting with the flavor in handful sugar slam

mellow yellow lemon and orange to kiss a crush

a fresh of spearmint green with a wild berry blush

grape is wealthy Welch's and the white vanilla sprung

black is licorice heaven like a shadow on your tongue

you can water up the melon or you can passion up the peach

there is apples in the orchard with a tutti-frutti beat

cotton candy carnival and a pomegranate splash

if you had too many root beers have a cappuccino crash

a touch of mango marvel and a margarita mix

for every single drink your are sure to get your fix

banana is appealing and the cantaloupe delight

kiwi has a craving and the cinnamon a bite

if you like pop into your pudding there chocolate to declare

a sherbet and a cheesecake with a marshmallow affair

cream to top your soda in the caramel covered corn

in shapes and different sizes since the jelly bean was born

so when you see the dentist and they don't quite understand

don't look so sour cherry when the Dr. pepper can

the fact is pure as sugar and It's not just bubble gum

a coconut can never stop from eating more then one..

My Broken Pieces

POEM " MY BROKEN PIECES" by martin gedge

Early morning train on a rain October froze
coffee brewing circles cross the senses of my nose
a nervous night of sleeping tossing over in my bed
not a wink to sink my eyes resting pillows in my head
it's 6am my holding hand is shaking like the wind
I can't see for the shadows from the southern comfort in
I light another cigarette to ease my peace of mind
knowing it's a token for all the broken that I find
I'm skinny as rail ,skin and as pale as deadly grave
master of my life on this knife of misbehave
my arms alarmed with needle pricks, sticks and throwing stones
my backs upon the rack of every crack head that I've known
in the fear across the mirror is a reflection of my fate
just watching as I'm fading while the saving is too late
a light of warmth a blessing while I'm dressing in this room
a habit like a rabbit multiplying every wound
the less of my expression is the guilt of being fake
there is no doubt when I go out another bone to break
and I smile to all the while with pain pounding in my heart
walking down the pavement as a target for a dart
a victim with the symptoms in a chill to kill my ill
a bottle in a basket case to waste my dying will
and with every breath I'm left in the days that I must spend
I take a hold of every load on the road that seals my end....

I Love You Too Much Not To Love You Enough

POEM " I LOVE YOU TOO MUCH NOT TO LOVE YOU ENOUGH " by martin gedge

There is a smile on my face and a tear in my heart

the moment that you walked away in the dark

not a word that was spoken just the silence of air

running round all the circles in my head of despair

in the shadow of fear when you sent me your love

to live with that feeling when It wasn't enough

a man made of measure with a hope and the dream

with the sense and a purpose on a balancing beam

whether jealous or jaded all it faded in kind

just to hold you and kiss you when It felt like a crime

I knew in my soul where the hole made me feel

that I couldn't fulfill a commitment and seal

to a step in the future and a walk in the light

by the sunshine of morning under skyline at night

always tempted by jury in the eyes of the court

when still building up fences when I lived in a fort

It was better to leave you then to promise and keep

then to live in emotion that was never concrete

I could say that I'm sorry while still kicking the can

But to live like a fool would make me less of a man

with my faith in the truth with my heart on my sleeve

for I can"t live I lie leading all to believe

that life is just perfect and you fit like a glove

that I love you too much not to love you enough...

Farewell To a King

POEM " FAREWELL TO A KING " by martin gedge
( RIP NEIL PEART)

Sticks and stones and roll the bones
to the mystic rhythm of your soul
for the banging of the drum in the hearts of everyone
is the beating of the Peart in rock n' roll
and a golden band of rush who would hold a royal flush
in every venue that was strewn across the lands
with inspire to ignite all the fire and limelight
was in power and the quickness of his hands
and the wise and very three with Lifeson, Geddy Lee
made the country of Canada loud and proud
and wherever you would go it's the spirit radio
that showed deep in their music and their crowd
and the journey down the road big Money and the load
the same they came to Fly by every night
their will was free to choose to come up win or lose
and leave a millions candles burning bright
but even closer to the heart in the shadows of the dark
a new world man and victor to us all
so sad to see him go on the pass that we all know
time stands stiill watching heroes as they fall
and so quiet and contain a legend shall remained
onto the stairs that holds a halo ring
like a soldier in the song in the heavens and beyond
his kits a perfect fit to sit a king...

Her Cold Blue Skin

POEM " HER COLD BLUE SKIN " by martin gedge

A windy frozen day night sky under the grey
the falling snow so thick and slow
would cover as she lay
in waters winter freeze death whistled through the breeze
as darkness walks the shadows talk
to whisper help her please
for souls onto receive to lead her to believe
upon the knife another life
would never let her leave
and so sick and sadly true her skin was cold and blue
as spring would break the ice would wake
to see her body through
and in her grip of strand the hairs to hold her hand
would set her free as it would be
to call upon the man
and judge and jury came in a court that bares her name
a guilty rule to catch a fool
to live in silent shame
and to one to sit his cell that drowns into the well
she is the witch that flicks the switch
to watch you burn in hell...

I Will Follow You Into the Dark

POEM " I WILL FOLLOW YOU INTO THE DARK " by martin gedge

Close your eyes and fantasy the beauty you possess

for night be still surrender will the thrill as you undress

your naked skin that shivers in of body and of soul

will feel the heat of every beat of heart and dark shadow

each thrust of sigh for down you lie with passion love you feel

take all of breath of dying left in knowing that I'm real

and fear you not the token spot the lost of self control

so deep in lust that you must trust I follow where you go

and in the sea of ecstasy the realm of which you dream

is just in spite of broken light still splitting at the seam

and drawing near with vision clear is dear you don't belong

in a moments wake the dark will take before you reach the dawn...

Saying Goodnight When I Should Say Goodbye

POEM " SAYING GOODNIGHT WHEN I SHOULD SAY GOODBYE " by martin gedge

To sit here in silence and stare into dark
should I follow my head or follow my heart
I've been through the trials the thick and the thin
I've tried walking out but you dragged me back in
I can't keep a secret or hold onto a lie
by saying goodnight when I should say goodbye
you can call me a fool for the way that I feel
but I'm not into faking so I'm keeping it real
there are no more questions and I've made up my mind
you have all the answers stop wasting my time
what more do you need is it closure you seek
so little words spoken and your posture is weak
we are all out of focus and our goals aren't the same
we can't keep on pointing when we both share the blame
it's a road too much traveled and we needed to bend
through the highs and the lows and the bumps never end
there is more to look forward then back in the past
though a future uncertain I know we can't last
so we pick up the pieces and we hold in each part
of what is left broken as we blow out the spark
and closing the door with all the feelings curbside
I stick out my thumb and wait for my ride
not one second guessing that our love was a test
I knew what was right and I did what was best...

From Dust To Diamond

POEM " FROM DUST TO DIAMOND " by martin gedge

With Heart and soul insight a goal a rookie breaking camp
of brawn and steel and sex appeal a chance to light the lamp
so hard and tough and rough enough will separate the few
for the fire inside will often ride the pride that's drives you through
to swing and swerve of every curve you reach the dusty plate
with eyes in tune they will balloon at a fast alarming rate
so you must choose in seconds flat when bat will meet the ball
with every base that you will chase leads to a curtain call
and win or lose the cheers and boos you never get undone
so loud and proud the waving crowd each time you score a run
will have your back each time you crack a shot beyond the fence
for stars ignite into the night in light of heaven sense
and over time and dollar sign will press upon your grit
the golden glove will rise above the chew and all the spit
what's true in heart you are apart the fortune and the fame
but never let or to forget the love to play the game
with all respect as fans select a hall into the shrine
you shake the dust and all the rust and let your diamond shine...

Ripe As Rain

POEM "RIPE AS RAIN" by martin gedge

Late September, windy day
the sky fluorescent red
the autumn leaves move through the breeze
and hover round my head
like butterflies that mesmerize
and dance a different beat
a country ride by fireside
for those who trick or treat
the pumpkin field with crops they yield
against the harvest night
October blooms in colored rooms
when rain is rich and ripe
you feel the chills through window sills
as fresh as coffee brew
the first of light that gathers right
when kids go off to school
this season fall as got us all
the feel fits like a glove
among the ranks and giving thanks
we bond and share our love
an apple grove a bakery loaf
a scent to fill the air
a frequent wish to catch a fish
before the hungry bear
I have to say that with each day
as nature paints its face
like ages grow and rivers flow
your heart will find it's place...

A Monster of a Man

POEM " A MONSTER OF A MAN " by martin gedge

In the mouth of madness and through the naked eye

with a sudden bolt of lightning from the fury in the sky

so well dug deep in science as its ready to compose

in the name of death and violence in the flesh the giant rose

the cell of the demented for the hideous insane

to shock of every vessel driving cider to the brain

a grasp into the movement of the ill intended stare

the corpse of countless errors in need of fix and to repair

the skin was more then willing and the killing quite device

a strength a million armies with no care no fare or price

as taller came the shadow well the darker came the night

and cold as he was bitter well his grip was hard and tight

of monster and of mayhem was a man so left of dead

with minds made out of metal that would plate a stubborn head

there is terror in his shallow box that locks a foolish heart

a stain attached to link and chain of every moving part

and 10,000 volts of energy in a body burns the soul

of course there lies the inner force that fronts the heavy blow

to flip the switch without a glitch each stitch it will contrive

a storm be born beyond the norm in form " I am alive"...
