Saying Goodnight When I Should Say Goodbye
POEM " SAYING GOODNIGHT WHEN I SHOULD SAY GOODBYE " by martin gedge
To sit here in silence and stare into dark
should I follow my head or follow my heart
I've been through the trials the thick and the thin
I've tried walking out but you dragged me back in
I can't keep a secret or hold onto a lie
by saying goodnight when I should say goodbye
you can call me a fool for the way that I feel
but I'm not into faking so I'm keeping it real
there are no more questions and I've made up my mind
you have all the answers stop wasting my time
what more do you need is it closure you seek
so little words spoken and your posture is weak
we are all out of focus and our goals aren't the same
we can't keep on pointing when we both share the blame
it's a road too much traveled and we needed to bend
through the highs and the lows and the bumps never end
there is more to look forward then back in the past
though a future uncertain I know we can't last
so we pick up the pieces and we hold in each part
of what is left broken as we blow out the spark
and closing the door with all the feelings curbside
I stick out my thumb and wait for my ride
not one second guessing that our love was a test
I knew what was right and I did what was best...
