From Dust To Diamond

POEM " FROM DUST TO DIAMOND " by martin gedge

With Heart and soul insight a goal a rookie breaking camp
of brawn and steel and sex appeal a chance to light the lamp
so hard and tough and rough enough will separate the few
for the fire inside will often ride the pride that's drives you through
to swing and swerve of every curve you reach the dusty plate
with eyes in tune they will balloon at a fast alarming rate
so you must choose in seconds flat when bat will meet the ball
with every base that you will chase leads to a curtain call
and win or lose the cheers and boos you never get undone
so loud and proud the waving crowd each time you score a run
will have your back each time you crack a shot beyond the fence
for stars ignite into the night in light of heaven sense
and over time and dollar sign will press upon your grit
the golden glove will rise above the chew and all the spit
what's true in heart you are apart the fortune and the fame
but never let or to forget the love to play the game
with all respect as fans select a hall into the shrine
you shake the dust and all the rust and let your diamond shine...
