Before You

Each day was a gift
without you.
Every sunrise breathtaking
without you.
Music moved me
without you.
But ever since our first night,
nothing is as beautiful
without you.

* Poem Form, (to my best) is Epistrophe or Epiphora, but neither are listed as a form option. Feel free to suggest a fitting Poetry Soup Poetry Form. Until then, It's in the, “I don’t know” category.
Kindest regards...

She's Pretty

I met a lovely lady and her name was Pretty,
I wanted her badly so I had to be witty,
She now resides in my mind,
Our lives forever entwined,
Now the song in my heart is this here little ditty.

Reaching Out To You -

Can you hear my voice,
on the other side?
I call quietly out to reach your ear,
and hope your heart will listen.
I don't care to reach the masses,
just one just you will do.
I'm a solitude writer,
as company can crowd me.
One perfect understanding being,
to delight in mutual comprehension.
How interesting silent communication is,
when two are wired just right.
A half wink, a half smile,
or just a half glance would do,
to translate all's well,
along with my hope for you too.
Keep fresh my love for you,
as my touch for you in your heart.
I cannot for years foresee,
how on earth we'd ever grow apart.
I have yet to witness over time,
true love that ever really did die.
If time would pass without an exchange,
hearts might surely bleed.
Like the clearing of a thick fog,
a lighthouse beam so bright,
the distance grows nearer,
ships find ports and captains raise their glasses.
Unite once again after rough seas and a long while,
together with a knowing half smile!

Y'All Scream

I’ve never really needed ice cream,

just the mention and other’s eyes beam!

Ate a spoonful with such ease,

then my eyes bugged from brain freeze!

I’d rather sit back and watch y’all scream!

Independent Surrender

Hard earned independence was my proclamation,
with pride for years since we met.
Our friendship is truly inspiring and trusting,
took a new course without one regret.

Long crossed are separate horizons,
now fading we formerly knew.
We sense ahead a vision unable to see,
but faithfully know it is true.

Our facts kept privately hidden,
now revealed to one another.
Grown is pristine understanding,
In trust as one brother to the other.

I recognize your love as perfect and honest,
As I honestly love you perfectly back.
Our truths are seamlessly eye to eye,
Shared words we'll never retract.

Love transported us to this glorious space,
It is kind, natural and ever filled with grace.
I needed you not, in my new independence,
And much to my former unwilling surprise,
I've tried hard to resist,
but now must insist,
I find...
I need...
you now.

If Something Should Happen To Me

If something happens to me and I’m found stiff and cold,
Don’t think it’s my time,
‘cause I’m not nearly that old!

If it’s true what they say,
that fifty’s the new thirty,
Then i’m in my prime,
with plenty of time,
and a mind to be a little bit dirty.

I’ve been told, “trust your gut” but it seems sadly enough,
that i’ve truly married a nut!
I shake in the dark,
as I sleep with one eye open,
but I’m awake all night long,
just a prayin’ and hopin’.

I thought we had it made,
and I’ve loved her so much!
But she doesn’t kiss me back,
guess I’m only her crutch!

I’m not so big on sweets but I love a good wine.
She made me a special drink,
but it tasted like turpentine!

I was calling to Ralph as I knelt hugging the porcelain throne.
Cried aloud for some help,
‘cause she’d taken my doggon phone!

I saw my old Doc who’s had a suspicion.
He ordered me home,
on a fact finding mission.

I found the only gift she’d bought me in years,
an insurance policy that brought me to tears.

I thought my fate could be a reasonable dissolution,
but in this state it’s not a feasible solution.

So I’ve laid out some bait,
to match with her hate.
In my sad and lonely desperation,
I hired for her a temptation.

One bite of the fruit,
and there goes her loot.
Fifty-fifty my eye,
that’s too much from my pie!

I’ll find someone new,
more honest and true.
She’ll love me for just me,
and forever we’ll surely be.

But until that fine day,
while I’m still here to say,
If something happens to cause my hasty depart,
Please let the cops know, from the bottom of my heart,
She did it to me,
and it was definitely first degree!

Half More

I've never before felt
like half of a whole,
but I'm joyously half of us now.
It's not that I've diminished by half.
You grow me,
and now I'm half more.

Night Surrender

Night Surrender

Conscience jolting back and forth,
between safety and danger,
as I try to surrender my mind to the darkness
and rescue of my welcoming bed at last.

The cool softness of my pillow seemed to lovingly caress my cheek
and cradle the weight of my unsettled mind.

Closing my eyes, I gave in to calm surroundings, greedily accepting full freedom from restless thoughts.

I gave up and gave in,
ever nearing my selfish escape.

Alone in the peaceful darkness of my refuge, only
one thing’s faintly illuminated in my mind.

The fresh memory of your smile,
the warm intent of kind offers,
the chance to rescue you and rescue me.

My body slid into it’s final perfect pocket,
within the soft embrace of my cloud like bed.

Subtly sensing a comforting fragrance, is it you,
or maybe a sweet mixture of ours together, how inspiring.

No matter whose,
it and a lingering expression,
helps carry me further and further from thoughts...

I’m almost free...

Sweet slumber,
please cradle me until dawn...

This Gentleman's Workday

Arose before dawn
Smelled the coffee
Fed my dog
Worked in a workout
Showered and dressed
Drove ahead of the pack
First in the building
Dove headfirst into work
Developed and crunched concepts
Made calls and commitments
Met people shook hands
Exchanged and grew trusts
Followed through and advanced
Checked up on progress
Oiled wherever needed
Jumped inevitable hoops
Made sure all were pleased
Refused all distractions
Did the best that I could
Stayed focused and faithful
Performance objectives achieved
Was a well oiled machine
Turned off the lights
Drove home in the dark
Quantified the day
Satisfied with exception
Smiles were mostly obligatory
Heart remained disengaged
Were you my reward
At the end everyday
The brass ring I reach for
Would transform into gold
Cut excess work-time
Embark in joyful productivity
Blessed forevermore creating with you
Fed my dog
Fed me
Said my prayers
Went to bed

Nights Embrace

Brighter were the hundreds of
glistening diamonds and dust
scattered across the entire dark
black night sky shining down
upon two embracing lovers as
they held tightly to one another
looking up at the space above in
wonder and hope in love together
until the end of time
and on.
