A Walk in the Park
A walk in the park
I do every morn.
Tween six and seven -
time to feel reborn.
The squirrels run hither
the geese overhead.
Fresh running water -
a beautiful flower bed.
And then I see the fox,
but not before he sees me.
He's gone like the wind -
almost to fast to see.
The blackbirds are cawing -
the cardinals sing too.
And the red-tailed hawk
sits high against the blue.
I stride up on high
and view the lake just below.
A splash and a ripple
and a wave to and fro.
A fisherman or two
who came before me.
Just watching their bobs
hoping to catch two or three.
Then I walk 'neath the trees
both big and small.
Their leaves blowing in the wind -
so much fun to walk tall.
Down the path to the car -
my last chance for the day.
But I'll do it again on the morrow
in the quest to find my way.
So simple and pure
it gives so much pleasure.
Does a walk in the park -
one of life's true treasures.

Jim Tosh Poem
Dear Diet
Dear Diet, Dear Diet -
Where art thou ?
I've tried and I've tried -
but Holy Cow !
If I cut back on this
and cut back on that -
And start on the treadmill
I'll shed some fat.
Or should I try Bow-flex
or jog twice a day?
Or walk fast like a robot -
get out of my way.
I wish I could get credit
for as much as I've tried.
But still twenty pounds over -
I've laughed till I cried.
There's a way to fix this -
there's a way I think.
A lock on the fridge
and only water to drink.
No food channel - no car
to the drive-in to go.
No newspaper to read
all the coupons they show.
No lunchin' with friends
no cookouts and such.
No late night snacks -
that would be too much.
And when all this happens
wake me up from these dreams.
Eatin' and drinkin' again -
that's just life - so it seems.

Jim Tosh Poem
Ah-The Cina-Ma
I love going to the movies -
the big screen is such a sight.
Popcorn, pop, and a picture show -
what a true delight!
From watching westerns as a kid
with grandpa I did go.
Double features were the norm -
you got to see two shows.
3 D's at the old Esquire -
blood curdling, scary scenes.
Then a night at the Drive-in -
hook on them speakers you movie fiends.
I loved to sit in the balcony -
seemed cooler than below.
The weekends always packed them in
through rain and sleet and snow.
And later came the Cineplex
and then the grand I-Max.
the screens get bigger and better,
but let's not forget the past.
Movies make you laugh and cry -
they make you feel weak and then strong.
They'll send chills up your spine
and take you back where you belong.
Thrills and excitement -
passion and sorrow too.
You can feel high as a kite
and then sad, lonely, and blue.
But going to the movies -
it's cool and it's neat.
Sit back and view the big screen -
still one of life's grand treats.
