A Place Called Home

Born and raised in the streets of Soweto
Ndofaya, kasi lama kasi is what i call it
Grew up in search for gold
all i found was coal
A shack for a house but it was home
The streets made you wise
the hustle put food on the table
Growth was far from reach
wisdom was key
knowledge guaranteed a future
If only i learned to combine the two
i would have found gold

Love Lost

Love lost
Love find
Comparison is never a need
Like fashion it never goes out of style
But with money it can now be bought
Lost and found
What happened to love?
Like an earthquake it shakes the earth
Reminding us of its existence
Love lost
Love found
We did we go wrong
For now love is only a word
Actions no longer speak louder than words
For now all is lost
Love lost
Love found
What happened to the tingling feeling?
Smiles that last for days
Can you still blush…? LOL
Take me back to the times of Romeo and Juliet
Cinderella, Snow white
And of course Beauty and the Beast
Where love conquered all
Love lost
Love found
Let us reclaim it.

My Dearest You

My dearest you
I know I brought you nothing but pain and sorrow
Sleepless nights accompanied by a wet pillow
How you smiled and yet with tears in your eyes
When I screamed you the one for me
You gave me your heart and I took it
With no intentions of returning it
You gave me your body
I enjoyed every minute of it
My smile made you blush
My words made you melt
My eye convinced you it was all true
Yes I played you for a fool and that is true
I know I brought you nothing but pain and sorrow
Sleepless nights accompanied by a wet pillow
My intentions were never pure
Like a well written script
It was all for show
I left you with nothing but sad memories and hole in your chest
For I have your heart in my treasure chest
All that is left is your soul
My intentions were never pure
My intentions were never good
You fell for a well written script
Only meant for show
My dearest you
Actions speak louder than words
Looks can be deceiving
Never forget these words

Lost Soul

Lost soul that cries for the light
Like a burnt out fire all that remains is ash
Black as coal, how can it ever be bright?
Days become nights and nights are a nightmare
How can it cleanse itself of all the deeds?
Deeds that brought sleepless nights and nightmares
A lost soul that cries for the light
Storms unbearable
Happiness on lock down
Loneliness starts to creep in like a thief in the night
A dark corner seems to be the only sanctuary
Down on the floor; sit still, head plated on the knees
Tear flow like rainy days
A lost soul that cries for the light
Stuck in a reality over came by yin and yang
So easy for the good to turn bad
Storms unbearable
Happiness on lock down
Now all that is left is the will to survive
Warm days become cold and cold days are unbearable
A lost soul that cries for the light
Where can the light be found?
