Pearls Before Glass

Behind the facade, angry gnashing of white,
Eyes filled with hatred as they flash past the plea,
Locking steel shovels powered by thew and by might,
Throw love's trust like freed pearls into the night sea.

The fiend, altered in form, while its rage to her known,
Now desperately trying, his guilt to conceal,
Whispers of innocence to lambs he now moans,
As she buckles beneath the contempt they all feel.

As the gavel meets ice, the truth finally sown,
Stained glass cuts deeper than glass with no zeal,
No longer hidden, the wounds he must own,
But God will call forth the harvest to heal.

She prays her bruised heart will never grow cold,
Looking forth to a time of deep sorrow with dread,
If this hardship she faces brings glory untold,
Dare she ask it be given another instead?

Accepted

How your smile can illuminate

How brightly you shine

How easily purchased has been,

The lie behind the eyes,

Of the statue,

Standing tall,

Rooted firmly in hypocrisy.

How readily accepted,

To the bosoms of those,

Unknowingly drawn,

To the facade.

Believing you,

To be of the same feather

As to a duck hunter's decoy,

They flock to your side.

An explosion cuts through the fog

As the last emotion caresses the ground

Silhouetted against my shame

The form of self proclaimed perfection can be seen

Now firmly planted in victory.

Air Breathed In, Thick With Sorrow

Air breathed in, thick with sorrow,
The night too dense with pain,
This sunrise barely compensates,
For battles fought in vain.

Care has taken up its place,
Behind her weary brow,
Drowning out the happy sound,
Of friendly laughter now.

The pain that racks her weary form,
Mere words could ill express,
The toll it takes upon her heart,
Her lips must now confess.

Perhaps the bruises left by hate,
Should not have been revealed,
To those who turn their heads away;
From the elect concealed.

She dares not hope this pain will pass,
The scars, and nightmares fade,
Will time succeed in killing off,
What greed and anger made?

And when it's all been said and done
The final word it's tongue shall leave,
Will that word be filled with hate,
Or will it love conceive?

Dream

Speak not of glorious visions past.
The dark remorse of woe
into the nightly splendour fades,
Where now, I too must go.

Weep not the tears of duty here,
Nor utter words withheld
That may have given liberty,
And had the power to meld.

Fear is but a childish word
That fills the heart with dread,
No more will rage direct my path,
Nor turn this weary head.

The north wind blasts against my cheek
Where tears did fall, short time ago,
The salty streams have turned to ice,
Repentant floods no more will flow.

I see the dawn break splendidly,
It melts the air around,
And bends the flower’s head toward east,
In trance-like motion bound.

Love She Now Can Ill Afford

Love she now can ill afford
And strength, her pride won't borrow,
She finds no crime in letting go,
Of dreams knit with her sorrow.

Her fire is but a ghostly glow,
Void of the will to try,
It calls out from her breaking heart,
As life goes racing by.

The heart though bruised is beating still,
And Hope bids pain farewell,
Discernment gained in battles lost,
Now reason for each swell,

To where does youth retreat with love,
When time has met with pain?
Does loneliness replace the fear,
And anger the disdain?

Met with morning each day finds end,
On promises anew,
With mourning shall each teardrop fall,
And bid them both adieu.

Conduct

Be fluid in honesty,
Transparent in truth,
Don't yield to hypocrisy,
Your morals since youth.

Unwavering compassion,
Show all those in need,
Forever remember,
The price paid for greed.

Armed with conviction,
Stand firm against wrong,
And never forget,
To a King you belong.

The Gift

Silently falls the crystalized mist,
Sparkling wonders on this solstice eve,
Backdrop for celestial candles, a sky,
Of soundless depth, and velvet ease,

The soft glowing hearts of those who await,
The welcome arrival of Peace to our sod,
The promise that death will be given his fate,
As our atmosphere cradles the infant Son; God.

Humbled, humanity in unison bows,
To welcome redemption to the shore of her sphere,
Shepherds worship with livestock and kingdoms of men,
Angels breathlessly silent, their heart's song to hear.

Thorns laid for lambs, hold gently the Crown,
That one day will hold the thorns meant for me,
Torn linen covering the Lamb's flesh Divine,
Heralds the veil torn, as He sets mankind free.

Captivity's Freedom

Hope seeks to breathe beyond the walls,
Laboured and empty the effort falls,
Her heart, recanting passion's song-
Beats wildly as though to right a wrong.

Could it be she lives to weep
Over love that never dared to keep
The promise it whispered to her plight
Through that dark and frigid winter night?

Engulphed by fear the statue tries,
To kill it's pride, and end the lies.
To cultivate a heart of flesh again,
And stand humbly beside mortal men.

The clouds mock the sun, and it's life-giving light,
They hold back their torrents, though not from sight.
Below the flora withers in parched repine,
Waiting for a single teardrop to resign.

Warning Flashes

Lightning strikes without a
warning,
Unable to cause the heart to
pound,
A word, a touch, have sped the
pulse,
While violence rages all
around.

The bird has learned a song it
heard,
While passing through the
storm,
Familiar strains, unsung by
her,
Well up within the tiny form.

Can time protect the youthful
brow,
As it takes on the years of
care,
Can anger quell it's passionate
song,
And leave it dying there?

The moments of colour amid
the grey,
Flash wildly as memories
around her fly,
Will regret forever the cadence
be,
Love marches to as years go
by?

Broken

Pressing in the darkness seeks,
To quell the Hope that burns inside,
Confusion sends the message loud,
Love will die along with pride.

Lord, why is pain the only path,
From it's first beat, this heart has known,
Why was love so small a gift,
Offence no longer grace could drown?

Betrayal echoing words so void,
Once drinking in this soul did bless,
Before the truth came crushing in,
Leaving shame, and doubt, and brokeness.

As love seeks refuge from the storm,
One thing this bruised heart comfort gives,
The form and voice I hold so dear,
Will in this memory branded live.

Untitled

The scent of promise in the air,
That winter soon will fly.
Birds sing with overflowing hearts,
Beneath an azure sky.

Blindly stillness seeks it's place,
From winter's frigid throne,
Hiding in the storm's cruel eye,
Unaware of pain to come.

Music muted by years of pain,
Minstrels play with tears,
Forgive if strains unrecognized,
Meet with these deafened ears.

The calm that soothes the wayward heart
That refuge seeks from care,
And mirth that lightens any load,
Await my presence there.

Silence

Believing the heart to be true to it's calling,
While wrapping it safely in caution's warm quilt,
Flying too close to the flame that entrances,
Hope's wings have been singed both by trust and by guilt.

Forging through pain that had sought to destroy her,
Enveloped in memories she wanders through time,
Revelling in feelings too distant to waken,
Provoking the heart to speak freely in rhyme.

Love can not lend her the courage to fight on,
Memories can't save her, nor send aid to bear,
They stand by her helplessly watching and waiting,
For silence to meet with her cowardice there.

She stands at the door, and yearns to step through it,
To the side of the threshold that pain can not touch,
Her heart beating ardently, longing for refuge,
But refuge at this point is asking too much.

Tomorrow may bring the resolve she so yearns for,
To stand up and walk as though none were aware,
Of the shame, and remorse she's allowed to enslave her,
To break free for all time from this prison of care.

Disillusioned

Disillusioned by the words of hate,
Disatisfied with present fate,
Hope crouches in the corner there,
Muttering rebellion at despair.

Before the heart is torn to shreds,
Between the words alive and dead,
It must be bruised and brought to shame,
And eagerly accept the blame.

Life it seems is forcing me,
To choose between breath and liberty,
My transient soul would have me trade,
True love for oaths that I have made.

It beacons me to enter in,
And forms a soul for mine akin,
And bleeds and sheds it's tears as bait,
Treasonous wretch, it lies in wait.

The door has closed, distrust returns,
The heart that kills, is that which spurns-
the tender beats of a trusting heart,
And builds of words a wall to part.

I make an adder's nest my home,
And dream that I am not alone.
I pray that time would not stand still,
But into future pain would spill.

Grant me leave from this life's scars,
The treachery that wounds and mars,
God if indeed Your love is true,
Call me swiftly home to You.
