i am a Close relative of the goose and duck.
You’ll find me protected, respected like royalty,
halos ripple around me, Gently gliding wings outstretched in a breeze,
loyal, I mate for life - no two Necks here, just us whoopers forever,
atop feathers for a pillow our clutches nestle, Envelope, warmed by us,
whether svan or schwan, we’re pen and cob To our cygnets and swanlings.
Wow, how sweet life can be sometimes.
We are on a ROCKY ROAD to see a broadway
play in New York.
First, we connected the DOTS thru 5th AVENUE
on a MARATHON route.
NOW AND LATER we looked up at our MILKY WAY
galaxy to see the night sky.
The twinkling stars made an imaginary STARBURST.
During intermission we sipped on ginger ale with
bouncing LEMON HEADS.
At the end the audience went WHOOPERS with a
standing ovation.
While traveling home we ate SWEDISH FISH and
dreamed of faraway places.

Title contest:How sweet it is Poetry Contest
Date September 22, 2018
the staff here at lim’rik flats
has noticed a shortage of laughs
poetry soupers
need some whoopers
Please double your sillies by halfs
And just so you will not get bored
the staff here will give an award
“giggle-of-the-day”
is easy to play
(and playing is half the reward!)
There on your tongue, on the tip,
is a jest, a joke or a quip
turn it loose, silly
it might be a dilly
Don’t be roosting aloof with tight lip
Not everyone is a clown
but better a groaner than frown
an addle pratfall
just may be your call
you might even light up the town
Lim’rik Flats is, of course, biased
We will pick the one which laughs highest
we are subjectives
but give no invectives
and we’ll praise everyone for their tryest!
*if you see “GOTD!” under your sillies, you have won!
