ravenous vultures roam
cheek by jowl
battle lanes prolonged
Wrestle the weasel
in the tall grass
Laura dances
her hips throng
Lost paradise where did it go ?
We are born through golden forests
I will be as silent as a grave
The Son of Pan
appears in heavy guise,
beneath the pond
he hears foremost of our melancholy
at a white aspen we chant
“Notice that autumn is more the season of the soul then of nature.”
Friedrich Nietzsche
I walk along many paths during the fall because it uplifts my soul...here is a list of why I love it so.
The winding bronze path that beckons to me
A refreshing deep breath of chilled autumn air
A tree brilliant yellow against cobalt blue sky
The caw of a scolding crow
The reflection of leaf and sky in rain puddles
A kaleidoscope carpet of leaves on the ground
A cluster of white mushrooms against gold mulch
The sun bright upon tree branches
A soft whispering breeze gentle on my cheeks
The smell of lush rich earth
The muted quiet of sound dampened down
A green and yellow moss carpet on a tree trunk
Red berries against a patch of leafy lime green
A streams lazy swirl reflecting falls canopy of colors
The scampering chatter of a squirrel overhead
A tall white aspen grove
A dog’s exuberant bark at the waters edge
The soft sound of water trickling past
You walking by my side

A crowd of
White aspen
Performs the
Sacred moon dance, but
They cling together
Like a herd of
Wild zebras, on
The Serengeti Plain
Their leaves
Resonate from
The sweet scent of
The lion’s claws
