Twelve men in the beginning
reporting unto God
Ten Commandments to proclaim…
devotional synod
Sacred by their nature born
each man immortal bound
Divinity in every word
salvations thorny crown
Choices come and choices go
judgment waits beyond
The weight incumbent, buried deep
embedded in a psalm
Nine will cloister, locked in place
the future theirs to choose
Decisions based on marble text

Then father broke her thinking with rebuff.
"Shhh! You're talking to yourself. Everybody's
looking. They can hear. You're not saying Mass.
Be more respectful!"
And she complied, not wanting twice recuff.
‘Twas so, all gave her disapproval view.
Now she heard priest, not wanting make remuff.
Words came from missal people so well knew.
"In principio erat Verbum, et Verbum erat
apud Deum, et Deus erat Verbum. Hoc erat
in principio apud Deum. Omnia per ipsum
facta sunt; et sine ipso factum est
nihil, quod factum est: in ipso vita erat,
et vita erat lux hominum: et lux in
tenebris lucet, et tenebrae eam non
comprehenderunt."

You might have noticed that:
Trumpsky has favorite words in his limited vocabulary
"Believe it" and "YUGE" are redundancies in his formulary
But TV Talking Heads have their own words too
When one has an unusual word the others follow anew
"Hacking" of course has been around overly long
And rolls quite easily off a Talking Head's tongue
"War room" of late is an expression often heard
Talking Heads like it and accept another two-fer word
They've concluded "filter" is quite acceptable to use
It fits in nicely when explaining a deception or ruse
They've pushed "Walk It Back", "Pivot" and "Double Down "
To the back of the church where no prayer books are found
But "animus" and "leak" have an edge with an exotic sound
That's why they now insert them in every lengthy speech
When their Thesauri of Lexicons are quite out of reach
But users are reminded "verbum sapienti satis est"
"A word to the wise" is all that's needed and is the best

Verbum Caro, Translation of Pierre Emmanuel’s Verbum Caro by T. Wignesan
Glory to the resuscitated Lord
Incarnate cry of the Flesh becoming Verb
The body is not the place of death
Where the soul feels alright despite revulsion
He who holds his nose
While passing his house full of droppings
Whatever be said : My flesh my pigsty
It is he the tomb requiring cleansing
A body all armed comes out of me
From the invincible nakedness
Fomenting peace in the midst of war
He’s of an innocent cast of mind
As virile as the sun
His worth illuminating the earth
The world is set on his head
The man straightens up It is midday
(from Les Jours de la Passion, first published by the Abbaye de la Pierre-qui-Vire by the Editions diu Zodiaque, 1962)

words, words, words
thrown at the wall for naught
clever syntax catchy rhyme scheme
hapless cadence letters caught
grappl'd with a muse
dusty finger crackled keys
a screen fills up with empty
prostrate mindflow webbing knees
staring at resistance
heart cold hunter pupil dark
talon raked out golden gorgets
inspiration miss'd its mark
as an eye grows jaundiced
gimlet squinting at the dawn
another pass beyond the ether
inkwell'd worlds both here and gone
as a helm grows weary
laid heavy onto mossy glen
one last thrust at cruel Erato
spent and protstrate lay down pen.
