I find her most congenial, and we
have everything in common; it’s a fact!
With all of her opinions I agree.
Our shelves with books and nic-nacs all are stacked.
To exercise at Vasa gym she goes.
I also love that place, and all the time
she’s my companion at the movie shows!
We love to write and love to make a rhyme,
and we are also glad to be a girl
and wear cute clothes and use accessories.
When on the dance floor, how we love to twirl!
My closest friend is such a cinch to please.
If you’ve met “me,” you’ve met my friend. No lie.
She also calls herself “myself” and “I.”

Vasamuseet

In August, 1628,
A Swedish warship sailed,
Yet on her maiden voyage
Every safety system failed.

The Vasa, tall and narrow,
Was too heavy on the top.
She teetered in the wind and then
She couldn't seem to stop.

Her trip was 20 minutes;
It took just 5 more to sink.
Though most escaped, some 30 souls
Did perish in the drink.

Amazingly, the ship was found
In 1961,
333 years since
She'd had her short-lived run.

Remarkably, they raised her hull,
Which mostly was intact
And built a new museum*
Where the crowds she does attract.

If you're in Stockholm, visit;
It's a wonder to observe,
A tribute both to Nature
And the experts who conserve.

The Thief

They intrude even into his kitchen,
hunting.

Now they loot fruits, nuts, spices, herbs, honey-combs…
Yet he tells them about a *Black Vasa’s medicinal miracle.

They come again,
strip the forest of the flora and fauna
and construct resorts and duplexes.
He’s driven away like a mongoose.
On the top of a bare hill,
he hunches with an empty stomach-pot.

As he takes some rice from their sack,
they collar him
and beat him brutally,
calling THIEF!

Media cook his corpse.

Remember
he was an Adivasi,
the original inhabitant,
yet he’d to live muted in a desert
within the forest.

*Black Vasa – a medicinal plant used in the treatment of arthritis, asthma etc.
