Unenthusiastic Poems | Examples

Some people are unenthusiastic every day
Not just work days, but weekends too.
Their days are blah blah blah
That is what they expected.
They are resigned to it.
They have little affect and low energy.
No one is excited to see them.

Other people are thrilled about every day.
They cannot wait to see what adventures it brings.
Their legs, arms, hands, fingers and tongues move fast.
They anticipate a fabulous, terrific day.
This is what they get too.
People cannot wait to see them!

Premium MemberHalfhearted Dragon Joel

halfhearted dragon could not puff out fire or even smoke
what has happened to our son? He is such a passive bloke
joel never gets interested in anything, he is not a life-long learner
he does not want a job, a family, he cannot turn a pancake turner

perhaps we did too much for him, we never let him take his licks.
we raised a bored, do-nothing unenthusiastic boy said his daddy Ricks
this lead to an argument, beginning of a whole bunch, truly many.
motivation does not come his way, and he is almost twenty!

halfhearted dragon heard them arguing but his head was full of wood.
he had never finished one page of homework, procrastinating good.
parents never let him grow up, but now they wanted him to change?
joel rolled his eyes at their halfhearted efforts, not willing to rearrange.

Premium MemberI Have Plenty As the Alpha

I am howling my wolf howl
Thrilled that I have it
At last!
I had begged to become one
And now I am not only one,
I am The one, the alpha

No one dares to defy me
They run in my pack,
succumbing to my wishes
All fear me

I never had that as a social studies teacher
The 7th graders used to laugh at me
Make fun of my blandness, my ineffective words
And my unenthusiastic teaching

No one is laughing now
If I could find the witch who turned
me I would bring her a bit of dinner
I have plenty now that I am the alpha

Haiku Dis

Thought for sure they would
love my most-recent haiku;
it was rejected.

[One of the hard parts of writing is the frequent rejections, both from publishers, and sometimes the (possibly imagined) polite but unenthusiastic praise at open mikes. I'm sure everyone experiences it.]

Simple Pleasures

Water coddles my numbing fingers
warmth floats upon stubborn clouds of mist
impacts unenthusiastic cheeks and lingers
morning’s winter heated by a whetted kiss.

Hands clasp as a lover to a lover
skin sliding smoothly through soothing soap
fogged mirror a glassed and cozy cover
warms my hands, my face, my hope.

Simple pleasures, unnoticed sunrise -
not epic love, nor joyous dream,
only eyelids lacquered over sleepless eyes
and chilled hands warmed in a faucet stream.

Girl Child

Opening tenderly my eyes,
my first cry echoes all around;
I extend my arms for an embrace,
An unwelcome reception is all that I
get.
.....I should have known.

Juggling studies and the chores,
my efforts yield as much as they can;
I outdo myself expecting an
encouragement,
Unenthusiastic remarks is all that I
get.
.....I should have known.

Aspiring to be successful in life,
my hardwork is sure to accomplish
my dreams;
I try to convince people of what I can
do,
Dismissive criticism is all that I get.
.....I should have known.

I should have known all my life,
In vain would be the expectation and
regret;
I would brace and hone myself
instead,
So that some day....... appreciation
and praise is all that I get.
