The Janus Sacrifice

"The Janus Sacrifice"

Janus
opens and closes
the ebbing time
greeted by
two faces
justice
on a coin
flipped
betrayal
loyalty
scepticism
trust
belief
disbelief
truth appears
through
those eyes
walk-ins
two mirror images
stand in judgement
like night and day
light and dark
leaping priests
embedded in the helix
of all of us

rationality and
the illusion of choice

free trials
to taste credence
a final meal
tokens waiting on a table
unconsecrated before a
sacrifice

Pennies

Pennies
They give us pennies for the years
we have spent
Everybody says to care
Cant wish away the tears
It was not hard to clamber
Speed the unconsecrated times
Seen so many chances fall from
clumsy hands
Glad to leave my youth
The river of us runs dry

The Church

Wooden guardians part reluctantly,
Their threats feeble against my entry.
The gloom adjusts itself in the warm light from outside.

Cold steam billows
Where incense rose and inspired.
Wooden benches,
Unseated,
Apprehend the emptiness.

Old blessings echo off the walls and fall on to cracked tiles.
All around the cracked altar swirl spirits
Invoked in need.
The long empty table,
Unconsecrated,
Uncelebrated,
Unblessed,
Stands mostly
Unused.

Pandora's Destruction

A harvest of the waning moon
See how the unconsecrated lick their wounds
Light is dark and hope is despair
I have found my addiction elsewhere
What is unleashed, a glorious toxin
The agony bid for at this auction
All the suffering of the world
Was left in the hands of a curious girl
Just a peek for her greedy eyes
Just a touch led to our demise
And now that the pain I feel takes form
She let the fabric of the universe be torn
I could be living in a world of perfection
Instead I'm guided by misdirection
A box so simple, a box so ordinary
Set the burden on our backs for us to carry
An ingenious design that left one to wonder
As we looked up to the lightning and thunder
Leaving destruction in its wake
Until all that we are now is fake
The girl that left us to our own
And set upon us a curse we bemoan
But among the others was a tool to cope
"What is this?", you may ask-oh nothing but hope

The Devil Take Me

The Devil take me for his very own,
And lodge my soul among the living dead,
And pitch unto the wolves my flesh and bone
Until their sated jaws are running red.
And contrast with his black and seething heart,
Compare my testament with saints uncrowned,
Command the ravens peck my dreams apart,
  Then buried in unconsecrated ground.
The Devil take me if I love of lies
And split my tongue into a still divide,
And thrust the pitchfork tines into my eyes
If all they see is weak and damaged pride.
For I hold true in knowing what I say,
The honesty of this I see and do,
And all the fires of Hell won't burn away
The sanctity of love I feel for you.
