I Dreamed of Beauty Thus In Time

I dreamed of beauty thus in time
 A rose beneath desire
Where every heart thus unbeat
Should wake and love eternally
I dreamed beneath the lucid sun
That sunrises thus undone
Should come again when morning wakes
And waking thus to not forsake
The love that in my heart was made
And like a sunrise knows no shame
Restrained by wings of paradise
Should find the moment in your eyes
As true as any moment made in life
But sometimes my love I dream that time
Can never in its chains define
The shadows that are left undying
The rose that in the sunlight knows
That love is all that heaven shows
For if my love I reach beyond
The vast eternal distance sea
Of all that love was meant to be
I find that sorrow knows my name
And in its presence I am the same
But love is all that heaven shows
And what lays beneath the rose
Save sunlight waiting thus in time
To shine
And there is faith as true as love

Not Forgotten

Blow away the morning dew
And clear off the heaviness of summer wetness
Times gone are gaunt, your heart is weary
Unbeat the drums of your sordid story
Emancipate your innocent soul
From this spectral link with old life
You are not forgotten
Just another moment of longsuffering

The past is done, you’ve been betrayed
Your presence is no longer
A melancholy of irking tales
That hollow heads with desolateness
Your name belongs to the clouds
High above the highs and lows
You are not forgotten
Just another case of ill fate

Abort your Inertia for life
Conceive your long time passion
Look at the sky above you
The stars are falling down
To locate your place in the sun
Let the flash lights carry you on
Focus your eyes on
The neat cluster of glory bright
You are not forgotten
Just another case of prolonged destiny

Hope of Happiness

I was hoping to be happy by sixteen.
The Friday night football
Tending to what I always thought of high school to be:
Cheerful, patriotic, outgoing, interesting.
However, something always seemed to depress me,
to prevent me from my sixteen year old happiness
Even the smallest things,
And could always throw my unbeat moods
Swirling down a dark, uninviting drain of silent depression.
I always felt helpless to do anything about it,
Like I was walking on a hamster's wheel,
Unable to control anything
And only able to follow along
Praying to God that I wouldn't miss a step
Knowing that otherwise
I'd fall completely off track; that I'd break down.
I felt that because I was unhappy,
I'd just have to deal with it
To "suck it up" as my friends would say.
So obviously, I accepted, pitifully, for a long time
that I had no control over my mood, yet I was wrong to do so.
What I failed to realize, And still have trouble remembering,
is that I have to choose to be happy,
And I can't rely on others' actions and attitudes to make me smile.
