"A fool and his money are soon parted."
--Thomas Tusser
Money is the name of a fool’s game
Those who have it have more worry,
Often woes accompany riches and fame.
I don’t have that well-known name,
And I have no concern for getting glory
Money is the name of a fool’s game.
Denying any interest in money is lame
I know it’s an essential part of any story --
Often woes accompany riches and fame.
Although riches and fame aren’t the same
To get money, some folks are in a hurry
Money is the name of a fool’s game.
But I won’t be a naïve moth to the flame
Escaping the trap of an enticing flurry,
Often woes accompany riches and fame.
Some other things I must find to blame
Should I fall into a sticky financial slurry,
Money is the name of a fool’s game
Often woes accompany riches and fame.

April Showers Bring May Flowers*
Month April tops the chart
for showers to appear,
with rain, both day and night-
and ofttimes does present
a most unwelcomed sight.
Month April tops the chart
hydrating soil that March,
with gusty winds, dried out.
Life-giving rain restores
root energy to sprout.
Month April tops the chart
for taking a back seat
to being favored time-
to nurture flowers that
make month of May sublime.
Month April tops the chart
for keeping us indoors-
for April's working hard,
with gloomy days and rain-
to bring May to our yard.
