   worn blue jeans
signature red jackets --
   as red as the distinctive tricots
of revolutionary Bastille days -- 
   their slide whistles shrieking
their drums booming defiance
   chanting slogans
blocking rush-hour traffic
   echoes of 'Madame Guillotine...'
