Threateningly Poems

Premium MemberThe empty heart, seeking solace in heavy days

The empty heart, seeking solace in heavy days,
When the walls of sadness rise threateningly,
Your beats, the melody of ticking time, like an echo in the endless night,
A lingering hour buried in the depths of secret suffering.
What do you seek, old and abandoned heart,
Estranged in depths, like the cold water of an isolated spring,
No one steps into your hidden sanctuary,
Leaving you to sigh in the isolation of loneliness and bitterness?
Once, "blue heart," hope danced around you, urging you to believe,
Now, silently and longingly, you count each passing year,
You stand by the window, waiting in vain to see them return,
Those who were once yours but are no more.
Ah! What wouldn't you give to have them close for a moment,
To embrace them tightly in your open arms,
To serenade them with a lullaby, like a sleeping child,
To hold them, like a dream, in your warm wings...
But melancholic heart, do not forget that deep within you hide magic,
A power to wipe away tears and dispel the darkness,
Be like a lighthouse emerging in the dark night,
Spread your wings and fly, for life awaits you to rise at dawn.

Premium MemberFall

As fall begins its inexorable grip on earth, and I,
Unhealthy thoughts again rise heavy to the fore
Torturing the short-lived happiness of summer; gone.
Ugly, dark, and god-forsaken days lay threateningly ahead;
Melancholy deepens as each one all too slowly fades away.
Nowhere to go inside me, or without; darkness will, I'm sure, prevail.

Premium MemberThe Coming Ending

Greyed cloudscape:
Even the leaves
have, true to their name,
left the Sky.

Readying work is
done.
Flowers, matings, done.

Repairs and preparations,
all made.
The only work remaining
is excuses.
Exculpations of a worn Self.

Rationalizations
follow realizations
which have long
followed idealizations.

Winter is coming
like a 30 ton steaming
locomotive (crazy motive)
let loose, downhill, and
feeling late to station.

I remember, though,
that surely as the cowcatcher
comes, threateningly
racing towards my Now,
it carries with it
an end of itself
a caboose, a Spring.

And so, though Winter
comes, so too does
it's End.

Endless Autumn, Obligingly

The morning sun just rising, glaring;

a damp, colder, workaday street ...

fallen leaves scattered,

Halloween mere days away:

Suddenly: Startled by the workman:

A stray, jet-black cat

frightenedly slinking into utter darkness

under a nearby porch.

In the gloom, the cat all but disappears,

save for its wide, pained, wild eyes

staring back threateningly into the daylight:

Disembodied eyes illumined,

like molten gold blazing,

dancing and hovering in gloom;

eyes winking on and off,

twin, sinister lamps,

the brightest, most moribund yellow:

The cat glancing aside, this way, that.

And irridescence

hanging in the hushed air

about all and sundry,

an apparition,

fog slowly vanishes.

Every step of the male tiger Samba looked suspicious
Close to her cubs he was circling threateningly
Seeing him that way, Maya, the female was alert
There and then she deserted her four cubs
And lured him away by courting hotly for mating
Samba lost himself into what he had been after
Young cubs thus saved by the caring mom fake mating

10 Reactions To Flower Petals

The world quickly dissipates in your hand
and petals droop solemnly without forgiveness.

Here, a woman’s hope is crushed
Because of one malicious rose
And the lonely dandelion
You plucked at seven
without heart,
who loved you not,
haunts you threateningly in your gut,
lying.

"I'll kill everyone in your family, all your friends, everyone you've ever cared about,"
My formidable enemy now facing me boasts and shouts.
"Walk now away from me and I'll let you and yours be,"
my enemy continued on saying to me,
"but challenge me and I'll slaughter you most savagely and slowly
after I've butchered every loved one, every friend, every member of your family.
The choice is yours. I suggest that you choose wisely."
I then spit upon the face of my formidable enemy.
"You don't intimidate me or any of my loved ones or family,"
I proceed to scream back at my enemy and shout,
"One of us will now die and I could care less if it's I
because there isn't anybody left in my life who I care about."
"Then so it shall be," responds my enemy coldly
as we both lock gaze upon each other most threateningly.
My enemy then charges me fiercely.
I can not move. I can not flee.
I can not back down. It's now either my enemy or me,
...and then that's when I wake up usually.
Damn, one could read volumes in my above reoccuring dream.

Stubborn Waves

The noontime waves creep and crawl,
threateningly roar and roll
upon the shore.

They rush to gather speed, force and all,
trying to besiege and topple
the stone seawall.

They smash hard against its mossy base,
trying to shake and crack
its rocky core

only to explode as shattered, salty spray
that briefly splash in the wind
before they fall.

But they keep coming back, rushing in,
ebbing out, for that's what waves
are after all!
