"The Take Off"
That feeling
when the plane
speeds down the runway
and lifts up
you know …
how it feels;
left the jungle
with the forest
to work it all out
amongst themselves
somewhere in
the lower atmosphere
wings spread
ruffling their feathers
for take off
undressing the addressing
garments and heavy baggage
no longer required
in the thermosphere
that place way above
the camouflaged
claustrophobic
muggy troposphere
you know ...
sans cloak,
naked masks are us;
is it hot in here, or what?

Unfettered and Free
Unfettered and free,
Seeking my ultimate destiny,
Flying through a dark, cobalt blue sky,
Like an extra light kite,
Effortlessly taking flight,
With strong wings, like a sleek bird I soar.
Friendly, gentle winds propelling me to greater heights,
Up, up, up -
High above big, billowy, cotton ball clouds,
Higher, higher, higher -
Rising into the atmosphere,
Gliding through the troposphere,
Reaching for the stratosphere,
Shooting like Halley’s Comet through the mesosphere,
Catapulting into the thermosphere,
Then with extraordinary speed, like a rocket I exit the exosphere.
Breaking free -
Not even gravity has the power to pull me down.
No longer a victim of Earth’s self-imposed boundaries,
Nothing can stop me now –
As a child of the universe,
I’m valiantly venturing into the unknown,
To the mysterious stars where I belong,
To infinity and beyond -
Unfettered and free!

Her canvas is the pitch black sky on cold, dark winter nights
When Mother Nature, in all her glory, starts to paint the Northern Lights
Charged particles collide with atoms way up in the thermosphere
Resulting in colors of the aurora borealis, seen both far and near
Swirling lights of green and red, dance across the midnight sky
The ballet caused by a geomagnetic storm – majestic to the eye
The Roman goddess of the dawn, Aurora, shares her beautiful name
With this phenomena of Northern Lights, adding to the Arctic fame

Swim my ocean
Walk my land
Jump my troposphere
And trapopause me
I’m up here in the stratosphere
Increased is my desire for you
To find me
My temperature has increased
Knowing you are near
Once you reach me my love
We will not mix nor will we cry
You may stay as long as you want
My love where are you going
I refer
You may stay long as you want
What is that?
You’re off to see if mesosphere
And thermosphere can treat you better
I say
My love never
My darling don’t go
You won’t be able to breathe
Way up there
Come back
