We wore our meri blouses
And on stilts built our houses…
We carried our bilums so beautiful
And custom dressings so very colourful.
We wore our island dresses
And displayed our art in richness…
We played our native string-band
And drew creative designs on sand.
We wore our dark sulus
And brown costumes not too loose…
We had high standards of fashion sense
And portrayed our crafts so immense.
We wore our shell necklaces
And a smile on our pretty faces…
We proudly exhibited our pan-piping
And were famous for our musical singing.
We wore our Caledonian dresses
And straw hats with leaves of freshness…
We spoke in our native francophone
And laid out our valuable money in stone.
So much vast diversity in culture
And numerous traditions needing nurture…
So much customs unique in many ways
Being revived and exposed these 14 days.
Though we were faced with many challenges
We have overcome for much further voyages…
PNG, Vanuatu, Fiji, Solomon & New Caledonia –
Still one and still celebrating the values and spirit of our Melanesia.

I look upon the sky
Now the sky is crying
No tears of sorrow
Then comes the light
Sulus please rise.

Who died are the Sulus
not the so called Moros
They were the recruits
Were killed when refused
Sabah were to invade
They refused to take orders
Sacrificed not to kill brothers
Jabidah Massacre bolted
Jabidah Peace Garden
the name should be penned
part of the history and genuine
not to distort its tale
Not supposed ourselves
Supposed not to hide it
The truth of the fate
Shall come to take the lead
It is nice to be recognized
An honor was made
But think of the truth
A sincere hearts we should
We cried, laughed and proud
From the Mindanao plain
from the valley mountains
and from the breeze of Sulu currents.
I love you peace. Let's sail together. Layag Sug!

Before,
people are not Filipinos and Moros.
They're Mindanaons and Sulus.
Now they are being hid by two levels:
Filipinos and Moros.
The old names would be buried
forever if not rescued.

Freedom!
Why to Sulu you cannot grant?
Independence!
To Sulu you don’t mind!
Freedom!
Sulus cried for once!
Independence!
Sulus need to embrace then…
Freedom!
Until this shall not achieve
Still the march towards it!
Independence!
Sulus need this to happen
United Nations please do what is due to them!
Freedom and independence
Are basic human rights
For the Sulu to regain!
Should other nations feel
What was their will to have their freedom?
They could have felt how Sulus
Wanted to be like them!
Do not add time to waste lives!
Please act to help Sulu stateless nation!
This could be done by United Nations?
For Decolonization!
Justice! Justice! Justice!
