A love twisted in a high school romance,
Both fixated on puppy dog eyes,
Skipping classes followed by lies,
Predictions to never be seperated,
Only as much as parents tolerated,
They would run if given the chance,

Upon a mellow river rusted a louring mill,
Dim lit repairs by a scarecrow of a man,
Alongside the river it was a small span,
As skeletal

Strangling Thistle

Puff grey smoke strings pollute the sky.
Dull minds remain deaf to vigilant whistle,
distracted by the flower of strangling thistle,
while time silently passes on by.

Youth in a basement getting high.
“I'm just doing my job” says an official.
Thirteen percent towards government missiles.
Dehumanize, and silence opposing cries.

Lift up your brother consumed by hate.

There are too many flowers to count.
My loves fall like petals against my ears.
All this undeserved yammering.
Showers of grace.
And here I kick empty buckets
Remembering what never was.

on wednesday we’ll find out 
via Amnesty International,
just how many Palestinians have been
kept in Israeli prisons
without trial &
though the slow strangling of a people
will not cease,
light will be shed on the stark reality
of Palestine’s imprisoned---
yet as the US continues to
pump funds into its little arms box
in the middle east,
constantly increasing the aid it gives its
