Fragile
ceiling of glass,
growth can be slow progress.
You feel like you’re burning alive.
Hothouse,
a dramatic transformation.
Knowledge builds stamina
to just move one
more step.

What’s the point? she asked.
It could be a simple solution, he quipped.
With much to do and little to gain,
The effort remained unattainable rain.
So onward she strove
Observed by those who stood beyond the boundaries
Doing much and yet ignoring them
She left having been a bothersome chagrin.

My grandmother knew
the exact moment I was born.
She was sitting in the passenger seat
of my grandfather’s navy blue Jeep Wrangler.
Speeding down the New Jersey turnpike,
the windows trembled against rushing air.
She closed her eyes and said,
“I just heard my baby granddaughter cry.”
Every time she tells this story,
I imagine my first guttural wail
transcending miles of houses,
trees, and pavement.
I think what a crude force even then
was my unrelenting fear,
its velocity,
its volume,
its stamina.

Let's weigh in on all the people out there trying to lose weight
The makeup of our bodies we have had a long time to create
If it is easy to shed those unwanted pounds the task would be simple to do
The solution to the problem is always the same eat less, more exercise, a statement that always rings true
We as a society want results immediately, a pill for pain, a burger for your hunger
Losing weight is a long journey, not a one-day wonder
How do you achieve success, look at your job, school , marriage, hard work is what got you there
The rewards for this in weight loss are better health and a body that will thank you without those extra pounds it has to bear
An increase in stamina so you can enjoy life and what it has to offer even more
A whole new world awaits if we stop indulging in those quick weight loss companies who happily take your money than ask for more
Use your hard-earned cash to invest in yourself by joining a gym
You can achieve what you want in life, believe in yourself, and start down the road to being slim and trim

I wish I could plant happiness in your heart and heal you of your despondency. I'd place affirmations of loving peace and contentment in your mind. I'd say things like this and that hoping it's not for naught. What would you say if all your sadness disappeared overnight?
You'd no longer have nightmares. Just think, peaceful slumber with compassion wandering throughout your dreams. All you need to do is reach out and grab onto the love then hold on tight. Its purpose being to protect and preserve your soul for the future. Look inside, too, I know it’s there!
I'd also be sure to include some sweet grass and mock orange blossoms to fragrance the center of your hope with confidence. So be sure to touch them and feel their softness and take a deep reassuring breath when you do. It will set you free.
I'll exchange the darkness with love and life to comfort the place in your memory where your way was lost. I'll take your hand in mine and read you psalms 'til you fall asleep. There I'd leave you in God's loving affection until morning light where you're never to broken to begin again.

saw panorama
of slavery as a drama
sharing stamina
in states which are red
away from we quickly sped
stay would rather be dead
what we always need
fire burn bright when we feed
from slavery be freed
did have much anguish
Mason Dixon does distinguish
what we relinquish
it is our belief
our slavery we want relief
from suffering and grief

There were others here before me
And after me, others still
Planting flags
And claiming territories
Dividing you up
Like pieces of a delicious pie
Wars were fought and battles raged
But the heart wants what it wants
Except it is claimed
Impaled with the flags of conquering nations
And invading hosts
I am no warrior
I have no armies to fight my battles
And I have no desire to climb to the high ground
And stake my claim
I will have to be quiet
Not let the threat be known
Take the back door
And be firmly entrenched before my foes arrive
And I am patient
I can wait for them to bleed each other out
And lose interest
And change their minds
And once you see how deeply I am embedded
Good luck tearing me out
Conquering armies are no match
For the native heart

To Character Ethic,
to core ethical values:
go with personality -
think with personality.
Show your inner values.
Basic principles of effective living
are in the Character Ethic -
impress with personality.
When you are in depression,
success is a function of personality
Do not immerse in depression -
think, positive mental attitude.
Maniac or Bipolar disorder
you can overcome it
with core values of integrity -
success is personality.

STAMINA
Nowhere near a force of nature
Challenging a source of nature
Building with the will to survive
A small measurement for those who strive
Lessons when it comes to strength
Multiplying the time found in length
Stop and learn the sound of weakness
Hard to find when one is relentless
Improving in a mental task
The answers are found when we ask
Stamina mania, you and I
To perform bravely in all we do
pump for long
yet never strong
Learn when ideas seem to fail
The wrong action is to bail
Thinking, thinking what could it be
Will not solve the problem between you and me
Practice is the best energy
Memorize it-- stamina will come naturally
