Blood drained from my face,
Accumulated into a scream.
Never released,
The silence was too fragile.
Dripping into my lungs,
I’ve finally found the ocean’s end.
Droplets within watery depths,
Lost starlight overlooks my eyes.
The blanket of darkness muffles my sounds,
At last I’m able to exhale.
Heart racing towards death,
Gradually slowing and slipping away.
Somebody save me from the raging winter in my soul,
If it were stabbed a thousand times I doubt I’d feel a thing.
I sleep on a bed of needles in hopes of experiencing a different pain,
But my body grew numb just like my emotions.
Damp, soddened soul,
Heavy with the guilt of existence.
Pained, shallow breathing,
Pierced by my thoughts.
Blood escaped from my lungs,
I broke the glass petals of silence.

Steady thrums of May rain
have soddened the evergreen earth,
and peonies are in full bloom again.
Hallelujah! A sublime rebirth.
The beauty that is spring,
as bright and colorful as the rainbow.
Foxgloves let their bells swing
as butterflies float about the meadow.
The sun shining in the noontide sky,
so hopeful and illuminating.
Petrichor swirls in the air like a fruit fly.
Its scent couldn't be more intoxicating.
The human race dance with glee
to the young spring's piano sonata.
Music to my ears! Bald eagles soar free
and nightingales compose their dulcet cantata.
The beauty that is spring,
as bright and colorful as the rainbow.
Foxgloves let their bells swing
as butterflies float about the meadow.

The steadily falling cold August rains
Continue to pour upon Cheshires lanes;
Over flattening fields of soddened wheat,
Soaking the grass, splashing the feet.
Stands the Combine in the shed;
The unripened apples hanging rosy red.
Stands the caped heron all alone -
His glinting eye as cold as stone.
And in amongst the many puddles
We step around like our troubles:
So lurch ahead with our retreat
Like drunken fools in the street.
And through this months darkly frowns
The cleansing downpours wash the towns;
Scrubs the spire from ingrained time -
Absolves the guilt from the crime!
