Footsteps ring in the darkness of airlocks

Under a load of plants, gates groan and shock
A moment when nothing pleased your senses

Skiing steep sloped slaloms one snowy week,
Knowing my courses from every stark peak.
In whiteouts of bitter blizzards bleak
Which lacked hazards to frighten me to freak.
Nothing was too risky to stop my streak,
Getting ski heroes poled into a creek.
The pointed arc Manor house onset,
Angel sculptures silhouettes.
Light through stained gothic windows,
high chairs and gargoyle shadows.
Marbled floor rows of columns,
pointed sealing reached by slaloms.
Heavy gilded frame,
giving her aura a powerful claim.
Brightness from eyes that capture,
ageless beauty fracture.
Sensation trigger warmth,
her smile only conforms.
Her caring gesture so rich,
purple velvet and satin stitch.
Cross in hand with bushy cuffs,
staring more then usual enough’s.
Temperature fluctuation,
some cold brush past sensation.
Sacredness speak joy of tears,
understanding now her cares.
Some little gifts to know,
crafted beauty in soul still glow.
The canopy of leaves
sieves the morning sunlight into beams
as if from an opaque, porous sky,
laying bright polka dots on the forest floor.
The hiker slaloms around the shafts of light as he goes,
crosses an imaginary finish line,
arms raised in mock triumph,
unaware he has finished last behind a field of
resident elves, gnomes and fairies
racing him unseen.
[“Komorebi” is a Japanese word meaning the
sunlight filtering through tree leaves.]
