Calendared nature admits
winter has come and gone
and makes no apologies
for lingering chilled moments;
The audacious mendacity of spring
has clamped down a frost-bite
on the wolfing climatic ignorance
of ignoramuses who wallow in deceit;
Albeit it all, the cosmic deceit of nature
cannot be ignored by seasoned sufferers
and their sinusitis chains of oppression:
Now the winter of our discontent
must yield to a spring’s new awareness.

When people ask me
“how are you”, I say “fine”,
a short reply but a huge lie,
because I am a walking hospital
where in every corner disease lurks,
from head to toe the list is below.
The head splits in hypertensive headache morning till night
One eye’s vision is hazy with AMD, the other’s with cataract
The red nose runs the whole winter with spells of sinusitis
The ears are blocked to near deafness by obstinate hard wax
The aching shoulders have been frozen long by spondylosis
The blocked heart paining in angina has two stents though
The stomach secretes burning acid more than necessary
The liver sends artery-full of LDL to the stenosed heart
The sluggish kidneys have built bags under the eyes
The bloated prostate breaks sleep thrice at night
The knee joints abrade painfully in osteoarthritis
The big toes swell red in ceaseless bouts of gout.
I am still walking my hospital,
searching for a patient doctor (GP)
who will take charge and cure me.

Like the roar of thunder
Mighty, powerful but it echoes
Like the intense tingle in your nose
Just before a sneeze
Like a blurred, frosted window
Prohibits sight
Like the taste of water from a kitchen tap
Tastes like nothing
Like the smell of morning
When you have s sinusitis flu
None of my senses can distinguish
To help my brain to comprehend
So that my my heart can understand this nothingness
Overwhelming, deafening, incomprehensable
SUDDEN...
Nothingness

What kind of day was it. Clean
the house. Notice the full moon.
Read a sheaf of old poems.
Listen to jazz tunes. Open mail.
Refuse to make of it more
than it was. What is it for,
don't ask. Squirrel or spider
your cares are yours to savor,
enjoy or fear. Tinnitus
of the ear, sinusitis
of the nose, bale contriteness
of the soul. Moriturus.
Consider economy
soul's eponymity.
The opening canopy
panoramic mystery.
Neither joyful nor depressed.
Not the worst and not the best.
I lived, as did my dentist.
To the east and west, the self.

In this moment, writing despite a headache, stuffed nose, blurred vision
Dry throat, exhaustion
Heart beats pounding, over exerted
As it fights the virus/infection attacking
A very weak body
As the moments fly, erratic thoughts swirl
In a moment then disappear
Then a new thought emerges from the thick mucus
Sticking, it tries to pull forth into motivation
Sucked down into a swirling fatigue
In this moment, the remnants of a cold????
Sinusitis maybe sucks the joy down the drain
