contours of the church
sing towards the dusk skies
above the vineyard
and it’s a ghostyard too

sweet machine gun Santa Maria!

there was a murder at the toy store last Sunday
attack of the insomniacs
one for each sign of the zodiac
missing their ringfingers
cold to the touch
thoughtless and toothless
in a wreckage of their minds

circling around the bell tower
a streetcar named Gunfire
traveling from new lands
still long forgotten
a smiling woman sits inside
remembering the days
that repeat through history

Uncertain to cross a bridge when the river is turbulent
Silent when no words can be found to express his grief
