Slimming Down
I strive for simple life and simpler deeds,
Cut down on needs,
And minimize the multiples of me,
And wriggle free
Of whirligig complexity....

Cradle garden faithfully, free her petals.
Pluck bouquet and playfully tend her, kiss her.
Praise her beauty soulfully - stem and fragrance.

Premium Member A Day At the Fair
Sniffs of cotton candy glide
Glistening like hairy sugar bombs
Through barns of dozy prized cows
Stinky squeaky piggies squeal off-key
While whirligig Ferris Wheels grind and spin
In the hum of the Tilt-A-Whirl and giddy voices

Spring mix sprinkled with balsamic and fig A whirligig of walnuts and crisp cranberries Décor’s sweet dawn of strawberries A fork and buds to taste At first so cold then so warm somehow As fiber and vitamins rush To aid the holiday’s overindulgence Of snow and damp, fat and sweet 12/19/2016

Floating on a repentant leaf.
Circling in flotsam fairy pond.
Drizzling leaves whirligig in dark.
Wayward wings beg woods to respond.
Tiny tears flooding maple boat.
The sentinel owl nods his head
as hearts resound with golden wings
whisking away prodigal’s dread.

Miss Carousel
Dear miss carousel

Dear lady on wheels

When next you declare another ride

Permit me lay by your side

For I have no lover

To spin my body around

No loving Father

Nor cherished motherland

I have been despised by the world

Miss whirligig,

My frame's trapped in the mud

Like an unclean pig.

I bid thee

Miss merry go round

Next Time

Take and spin me around....

Premium Member The Perils of Weathervanes

Weathervanes were once practical
indicators of matters meteorological –
wind speed and direction, notably –
found on house and barn roofs mostly.
Nowadays of course they’ve rarely seen
replaced by weathermen on TV screens.
In winds of very high velocity
they whirl and blurr to non-identity.
And many a mortified pig
whirling wildly like a whirligig
has had it’s snout rammed clear
up its rear, at least it would appear.

How the igloo spectators did laugh
as I spun like some frozen giraffe
black ice caught me napping
jack frost “boo-boo” snapping
this whirligig skater a fly-half!

My Whirligig
My whirligig requires wind
So when the day is calm,
It sits there quite forlornly
Like it's lacking in aplomb.

But when the gusts are squalling
And the trees are pirouetting,
My whirligig starts spinning
And, oh, what a show I'm getting!

It has concentric circles
So it twirls in two directions.
The faster that it goes, the more
It gains in my affections.

Today the wind's cavorting
As I watch in pure delight
While my whirligig goes whirling
Like it's gearing up for flight....
