of their own design
I find my mind wandering
down to the waterline
for a change of scene
let's you and me
go swimming in the sea
of tranquility
leave all cares behind
we'll sail away sometime soon
and bathe by the light of the moon

Shy face covering and
Containing the sky.

with a pointed red hat
sits on the dashboard
remembering that
life is a journey
a sojourn a safari
its time to run like our children
forgetting the day
dark hair streaming behind them
dark eyes sparking happy
they chase their father at the waterline
dodging the waves
two sons
three daughters
all sturdy all healthy
our eyes meet over heads
time for another.

Nana’s a safe harbour for a child,
a rattling baby taking water
at the christening font, and fluid
in the lungs. Little’s of consequence
for you, ceremony or theology, or
clan gathering. We pilfer your
routine deftly as rogue genes have
jellied your muscle. But held above
the waterline you’re safe now, if
perplexed to tears, the agony of taking
passage from death to life not quite
surpassing navigation of more hostile currents.

Snowflakes gently falling, glowing like diamonds
In the early morning rays.
The sun reflecting off the frozen shore line,
Illuminating a diamond glow.
The hoar frost gently dressing up the barren trees,
In a winter's coat of white.
White mist slowly clings, above the frozen waterline
Leaving white diamond crystals, dancing in the river's dawn.
The winter's air hangs heavily on each breath, while
Gazing on this beautiful untouched winter's spot.
