Swingin' it in sunshine almost
barefoot skippin' o'er the
grassy courtyard breathin'
freedom.

Smiles you flash
eventually catch
attention to unmentionables.
Air quivers

skin slithers through
broad shoulders dark
flanked supremely.
Wave and wave back.

Prissy Tale

Have you ever been snobbed by a cat?
Scolded with a slap from a paw?

Has a warm fluffy ball purrred you to sleep?
Have your unmentionables been itchy with fur?

Kittens died in their sleep?

Then you know the Joy and pain
of being allowed to keep company with a persnickety cat.
Who wants to be the boss of everyone.

In church, kneel down, stand up, give the priest room.
Week to week, “fruit of the vine,” his voice booms.
                       Mistake a doozy.
                       Priest’s a bit woozy.
Proclaims from the pulpit, “fruit of the loom.”

Dear Me

I have cut you with blades
and watched your blood fall to the floor
to make me feel better
I have allowed many unmentionables
to enter your territory
uncovered
for me
I have covered you in filth
for my simple pleasures
I have sent you against yourself
filling you with bottles of pills
meant to void me of pain
I have used you
and now I'm sorry
we are finally one in the same
Dear Me
