Unclasp
we sneak tonight
to see our last

dying in the halls
and vats

we sneak to
Aushwitz. circles

feel and form
words no more

     unbridge
unclasp...

Premium Member A Falling Star
I came upon a falling star and grasped it
within my hand
the wishes it held I released unfulfilled
trying to understand
dreamers dream in slumber's nest
with desires unreal
the earth alone
heaven atones
for the sake of finding real
truths are savage
lies are sweet
it's all in how we feel
unclasp my hand and the star
naked it did fell...

Empathy Trap
Magnus can’t run wild
since he bolts
once given liberty
of tether.

I identify with his struggle
as he pulls with vigor
to center the fray
in frolic

only to get denied
with a plaintive yank
at the limit of
influence,

placated and sequestered
in a panting pen
without regard for
dignity.

As I unclasp his
durable chain,
he licks my face
then jets off....

Premium Member Asp Clasped
Listen to poem:
I gasped, as asp clasped fast
around my head like a plaster cast cap.
It was coiled round and round
like a ringlet of hair wrapped
around a curler, with head reared up
poised like spitting cobra.
What spell can I cast to uncoil, unclasp the asp?
For I'm too scared to grasp the asp
and cast the serpent skyward.
Perhaps wearing the Uraeus asp cap
means I'm a Pharaoh!...

Heart Attack
Breathless gasps
Agonizing spasms
Ice-cold sweat beads
Fingers clutch a fading heart, palpitating with grief
In a moment, the rapacious pain recedes
Burdened by scorn and disbelief
Fingers unclasp as the beads disperse
As the pressure ascends to give way to relief
Vows of friendship relinquish their crown to deceit
Don’t reminisce… you’ll risk an arduous repeat

                            Betrayal… a lifelong heart attack...

Premium Member The Principle of Seed Sowing
The Principle of Seed Sowing By: Miracle Man 1-24-2019 Many endeavor to exist, By mooching fruits from others. Smugly sharing yours, When they have their druthers. But there's a lesson in life, They don't seem to grasp. Feeling entitled is an attitude, From which they must unclasp. An attitude of entitlement, Means they've taken a knee. But “You can't reap the fruit, Without first planting the tree.”

Poem For Japan
Drop to your knees and clasp your hands in prayer
Dig down deep (but not your pockets) to show you care
The power of pure suggestion and thought is all they need
Not actual help, housing, medication, and money to feed
Because, after all, God has spoken and smote the land
Surely this disaster for Japan is what the Almighty had planned
If, dear wandering reader, this far you have read
Unclasp your hands, dig deep into those pockets and donate instead...

The Smile of a Child
It is something most of us take for granted
But a lack makes children's lives disenchanted
Though it cannot be completely prevented
Proper surgery can make a life less lamented
Unclasp those hands held so tightly in prayer
Help a child live a life that is not so full of despair
And give them a beautiful gift that is bereft of strife
Because the smile of a child is the greatest gift of life.

(in honor of the great work of http://smiletrain.org - stop praying and start doing!)...
