Heart Attack

Breathless gasps Agonizing spasms Ice-cold sweat beads Fingers clutch a fading heart, palpitating with grief In a moment, the rapacious pain recedes Burdened by scorn and disbelief Fingers unclasp as the beads disperse As the pressure ascends to give way to relief Vows of friendship relinquish their crown to deceit Don’t reminisce… you’ll risk an arduous repeat Betrayal… a lifelong heart attack
