Hyenas are really no laughing matter In fact they're scavengers, if you see one, scatter They'll bite your bum Their dinner you'll become Unceremoniously, don't need a silver platter

On This Day
Unmoving, sweltering, its evening falls,
Unrolling slowly a knotty unbleached cotton pall,
Turns unceremoniously and exits -
      the day ending eight years,
Eliott's[1] sends a breeze, a silent scene ends call.

Premium Member My View of You
Your arm wraps
around her shoulder.
She slips in—wears you
easily and steps in the place
that was our embrace
for eighteen years.
This looks so effortless for you.

On my own, I’ll need to defend
My actions from here on out
Mine; that’s, what life’s about
Times of sorrow, times to elate
Adjust and carry my own freight...

Here We Are
Eight years ago
We started the race
We are still keeping the pace
For we are always good to go.

Many were called
Few were chosen
The few were weeded
Yet we kept on.

Some were cut down in their prime
Some unceremoniously came to the end of their time
Some found better dreams to follow
Others deserted, their endurance's root were so shallow.

But here we are
By God's grace
Daily waxing stronger
Determined to finish the race.

PS: Written on 08/06/13 to mark my eight years in the Nigerian Navy....
