you came into my life
then swept me off my feet

king of Germanys Black Forest

he was raised by trees
a fur king in Germany's black forest
few met him, as he seldom transmogrified
posing as a harmless sapling by day
howling rage by night

Giraffe God

Giraffe god transmogrified from the bark of a worn out tree.
He stuck his head out and said “hello” in a nice way to me.,
I was shocked at how large this giraffe god could instantly
Also stunned that he recognized or acknowledged me.

Harboring a New Idea

breaking a new idea wide open
dazzling myself with anticipation of possibilities
futuristic particles of hope pour into my soul
I anticipate a metamorphic change
I am transmogrified into a new me
as I let her take up residence in my brain

He Had No Idea Whom He Was Marrying

She was practically comatose
sluggish
lethargic
apathetic

A handsome newcomer slipped into the room
And she miraculously transmogrified
into a glitzy, shiny, fire ball.

He married her a few weeks later
Having no idea
Whom he was getting.

How Did It Happen

Owl somehow turned into a brand new encyclopedia tonight
His powerful wings changed into pages, as he flew out of sight
How did it happen? Some of the other librarians asked, amazed.
We have no idea, but he transmogrified, said a Thesaurus named Graze.

Let the Adulting Begin

Let the adulting begin, she says.
It is hilarious!
Now that she is eighteen, she thinks she has transmogrified.
Into an adult.
Her father and I scoff.
We roll our eyes.
We make fun of it.
We know she is never going to become a real adult.
We taught her better than that.

The Witch Was Magnificent

The witch was magnificent.
A soothsayer, a prophet, a sorcerer.
We watched her from afar.
She transmogrified into a pumpkin.
We watched in amazement.
Her hat was the only clue as to her location.
Shall we touch it? My cousin asked.
He did and promptly disappeared.
I heard a loud cackle.

Reading Tea Leaves

Wizened old lady read the leaves
two taunted her, a gentle tease
she heard a cough and a wheeze
leaves transmogrified with a sneeze

door slammed shut by a hardy breeze
what do they say? asked young Louise
You’ll have a good life she said with ease.
Old hag who raised bullfrogs and bees.

widow witchs unlucky brother

Widow witch’s olive elixir all in
mystical bam for scaly itchy old skin
therapeutic in a Halloween way
best skin remedy of all back in the day

widow took out cauldron and gave a chant
wizard brother transmogrified into a teeny ant
other animals disappeared from view
I would not have stayed around, would have you?

Lying In Wait

All was quiet on the eastern front, and the southern front too.
We faeries were lying in wait, hoping the elves would be back soon.
A troop of brownies wandered by, drunk on sunflower seed oil.
Hush! The queen cautioned us. We transmogrified into flowers.
We certainly do not need a brownie skirmish before an elf battle.

glad he had transmogrified himself

Wizard sat quietly without a word
Listening to the huddle of a witch named Bird
She had big plans that included him.
He’s a sneaky wizard, she said, old T. Jim.

Old T was enjoying the view, and the spying.
He could hear all of their plots, only half trying.
Glad he had transmogrified himself, he hopped away.
Planning his own surprise for the witch hags that day.

Mine Husband

His tongue spins candy floss
In his absence of a moment
A lifetime seems lost
I seek no anointment
For his caresses art mine gloss
Thy husband of mine
 Thine lips make me transmogrified
In thine orbit, me spins high
Before thee, mine heart was a withering rose.
Thou art mine highs
Thou art mine zephyr.
Thy prince of Persia art pale
In mine eyes
Thine touch art all mine skin desires

Gone of Course

Stupified I stare transfixed
The transmogrified beast stares at my mouth
He has my husband’s hazel eyes with gold flecks
He puts out his right claw. It is hoof like, gnarly.
I hesitate forty seconds too long
The beast flashes disappointment
With a howl he lopes off into the night.
I feel something hit me hard in the chest.
I gasp. My eyes flutter. I turn to look at my husband.
He is not there.

too many beans on Halloween

ebony crow gave a twirl and his face turned green
he transmogrified into the witch’s scariest queen
this was a surprise, even though it was Halloween
I did not dare tell even my closest friends what I had seen.

The witch crow gave me a snort, her nose was lean
Beak-like and terrifying, I tried to let out a scream.
My flatulence was proof I had had one too many beans,
Waking me up from my horrifying nightmare dream.

Blank Black Books

Sometimes, it descends like a warm night breeze
A blanket. At once comforting and disturbing...
The sense knocks. A vague, uneasy membrane just outside of feeling
Too many years, too far along
Too much water under so many bridges
The house changes, transmogrified from cosy fustiness into something altogether sadder
It carries weight, occupies space, colours the green screen
Perhaps we are all just blank black books waiting for an author

Curly haired Carlotta Commandeers a Bus

Curly haired Carlotta brought her curls onto our bus
Filling it up from seat to seat, annoying many of us.
Her hair grew an inch every fifteen minutes you see.
We could barely speak to each other for it was not wee.

These curls went down the aisle and into the seats.
Two guys sitting on some of it were known as the Petes.
We cannot cut it, they told us, for we did that another time.
Those curls transmogrified into thugs and held us hostage until almost nine.

This Love

You knew me intimately As nobody else ever has You filled my dreams With promises you failed to keep You held me together When no glue ever could We were quite the dream That transmogrified into a nightmare By now you knew it all This reverberating nostalgia You resisted for so long That now fills your heart chamber All the lights that led the way Now blind our protuberant eyes Maybe I loved you But maybe you loved me more

Low Levels Of

Against a backdrop of despair
soothing sounds eliminate a steady
drip drip drip, water eroding thoughts
no man’s land we call it partner
bodies in the ground, rotting away
mounds of burial chambers
holding secrets waiting to be told
Denial or curiosity, same coin
a new year for human kind,
man kind, woman kind, all kinds
bridges built fail to serve
transmogrified wisdom symbols
clever hotel emblems
I scream with sleep, wake me up
falling into the pit of unconscious desire.

Mannequin Ghosts

She was movie star quality
Put on plenty of airs
He was more down to earth
into sports
They were forced to share a window

They are looking at me! She said gleefully.
He knew they were watching him.
But he kept this to himself.
Careful to not lose his temper

For that is when he transmogrified
And ghosts are always supposed to stay a bit elusive
right?

She was prancing around now.
Highly emotional.
There was a scream.
That’s on you, he told her.
Divas are never careful.
